They decided they would try and make a run for the conference hall as it allowed for more possible hiding spaces. They had no idea who – or what – they were up against and needed all the cover they could get. If they slammed the door down once, they were certain they could do it again.
As they ran toward the closed door to the hall a figure appeared from the other room and laughed an ever more evil laughter than before. They both instantly turned around, aimed at the character they concluded was Kirk himself, and pulled the trigger enough times to empty the barrel. They realised very soon, however, that their guns didn't fire a single round no matter how many times they tried to shoot. They instinctively both dropped the pistols on the floor and pulled out the second pair of revolvers that they had strapped behind their backs and tried again. No success. Kirk kept on laughing hysterically, and they again had no idea what to do.
All of a sudden the vicious smile disappeared from Kirk's face and it looked like he got the worst case of blues. His look descended and his eyes turned vacant. Moments later, his legs started shaking uncontrollably and he started foaming at corners of his mouth. They could see he wanted to say something, but instead fell down to his knees first, then face-planted himself on the red carpet.

I downloaded and started writing with Scrivener the other day. Talk about a revelation. I can write out of order and reorder and make a final piece. Judging from all of the parts, you are either using this writing tool, or should take a look. Either way, keep writing. It's good stuff.
