Chapter 11
Without words they turned the corner, made a few steps toward the palace, then reached for their revolvers. The three guards on their side of the palace were dead in less than a second – James shot the leftmost guard first and then the middle one, and Tom shot the rightmost one first and then the middle one. They stayed at the dead center of the building and just waited for more guards to come running toward them. It was just as James had foretold. Another guard came from behind the corner near instantly – and died just as fast – and just before the second one appeared they heard gunfire from the other side. Gordon started shooting as well. They killed the second guard from each side as well for a total of seven men dead. Judging by the gunfire on the other side – there was a total of seven shots – they concluded that Gordon managed to kill at least three of the guards before dying himself. Exactly as predicted.
When the guards began camping their sides instead of running to the back of the palace, they both sprinted back to the side street that they came from and into the direction of the bank. The guard was running faster than they anticipated – he was at street they wanted to wait for him in when they were still at the beginning of it, and not the end – so instead of strangling him, they shot him from the distance of about 50 feet, which potentially made it seem to the guards still at the palace that there were more than two assassins coming for them.

For some reason, I didn't expect Gordon to get killed even though it was predicted. That sure was a creative way to fit the prompt in.
Waaait, wait, wait... let's not jump to conclusions here, shall we? How do you know that Gordon is dead? All we heard were shots fired.............
Oh, I see what you did now! That is what James and Tom assumed. Well done! : )
