With that guard out of the way they continued their way toward the end of the hallway. They again stayed as quiet as possible and at last made it to the illuminated room without difficulties. They took a peek inside and saw a guard sitting down next to a jar filled with the ore's essence on the very other side of the room, about 15 feet away from them. The guard was smoking a very long wooden pipe, and judging by the smell coming from the room he had to be smoking some herbs, not tobacco – he also looked way too relaxed for it to be tobacco.
“So… Ideas?” James leaned over and whispered to Tom.
“Can’t shoot him. Can’t sneak up on him. Unless he falls asleep I got nothing. You?”
“Same.” James smiled a little and took another look at the guard. “We either wait for him to fall asleep, or even move, or we go back and strip the guard we just killed. No way we’re getting close without being noticed otherwise.”
“How about from up there?” Tom looked up – the walls surrounding them and the room were about 10 feet tall, but they had no idea what was up there.
