They cautiously advanced through the room, staying as far away from the Cryosatane as possible. They didn’t want to spasm and drool like before. Not then. That same thought also made them both wonder why the King had such large quantities of it right around himself at all times. Likely to get that same high they got, but somehow figured out how to eliminate the negative effects.

They stopped in front of yet another delicate gilded door to again decide who would knock them open and who would charge in first, when suddenly a single gunfire erupted from behind the door and pierced it right in between their heads. They instinctively crouched down and made a couple steps back with their guns held high and ready to fire.

They could hear a somewhat subtle laughter from the other side that was either nearing the door or increasing in volume. “I should thank you two, you know,” a deep voice said from behind thewooden panel. “I’ve been aching to give this thing a proper try.” They remained in their crouched position, looking at each other and waiting for any sound cues telling them the other guy’s position. A few seconds later they heard a glass object hit the floor and shatter, accompanied by a loud exhale.
