Wild West - Chapter 1 - Part 27 - 5 minute freewrite challenge
Chapter 1
Wild West - Part 27
Tom reached down his shirt and pulled out a trinket he was carrying around his neck. It was a roughly one inch tall iron capsule that resembled the shape of a scroll. Tom uncorked its top piece and pulled out a rugged piece of paper; a palimpsest with writing marks of its former message clearly visible even when still rolled together. He unwrapped it carefully and held it in front of him, gazing at the one word written in black ink.
“Evil?” James saw through the thin paper and read the message backwards.
Tom smiled ever so slightly and admired the object between his thumb and index finger; “Live,” he raised his eyebrows slightly. “Live,” he couldn’t stop staring at it.
“What’s the story behind it? And why are you dead serious all of a sudden?”
Tom didn’t take his eyes off the piece of paper - bedazzled by its simple word – and failed to hear James.
“Tom?” James tried to call his son out of the delirium.
Tom shook his head and gathered his thoughts again; “Ugh… Yeah, what?”
“The story? What’s the deal with the piece of paper?”
"Palimpsest"
in the comments below leave me a clue,
an idea for a story you'd love to read,
a journey to the unknown my keyboard will lead.

Or could it mean live evil. :-) You make it look so easy to do the freewrites. :-)
Agreed. He just puts together such great dialogue, doesn't he?
He does indeed. I enjoy reading them.
Oh and I'm following you now. Oops.. :-)
Hmmm. That's actually a very smart one! :D I might consider it, we'll see how my mind flows tomorrow :D
And thanks for the compliment! Much appreciated!
Also very happy to have you join me as a follower! :D Thank you for trusting in me!
I keep wanting to write: Well done! But that gets boring lol. But you did such a great job with a difficult word.
It doesn't get boring to read it though! ;P Feedback is always very welcome! Positive and negative (as long as it is constructive - not just "YOU SUCK YOU FART TWAT!")
Thank you very, very, very much @mariannewest!
Very clever little thing with "evil" in the mirror vs. "live". I WONDER who it was from????!!!! Do tell. :0)
Soon....ish. :P
So much mystery surrounding this little piece of paper :3
This one was an easy one for you :)
When I've read the prompt I knew it was the amazing one for your story. It just fits in perfectly :)
Thanks! Means a lot to me that you trust in me! :D
Evil live, or live evil? At least, it's not "vile" ;)
I drop here the link for the newest freewrite: https://steemit.com/freewrite/@mariannewest/day-109-5-minute-freewrite-monday-prompt-yard-sale
steady, keep fighting
Is "Live" a command or a plea? I like that you had the capsule hanging from his neck, kept close and protected. Is the iron meant to protect it as well, like it is in lore to protect from fairies?
In keeping with my tradition of delivering your prompt too late:
While snacking on a tasty piece of Snook Fruit, I came across a delicious little platter of prompts left by the Goddess Marianne. As tempted as I was to keep them to myself, they looked too scrumptious not to share.
There is only one way to find out, isn't there? ;)
Probably just to keep it safe from wear and tear, but that's as wild a guess as yours :P
A platter of prompts? :D Now you have me interested!
