Wild West - Part 5
“I know why you left us.”
“You don’t know shit, Tom. I had to leave.” James paused for a second. “I didn’t want you to live a life like mine. It was the only way, Tom. I had to leave you and Susanne.”
“I understand, and I would have done the same.”
“Why are you here then? Scram! I don’t want you here!” James yelled at his son again.
“I’ve come to tell you I’m following in your footsteps. I tried to fight against it, I really did, but no matter how hard I tried I was always the odd one out. I was quieter than other kids. But stronger and more agile, too. No matter how much bigger the other guy was, I always knew how to strike him down. I know you wanted to protect me, father. I know you did. But I inherited it. It is your legacy. As it will be mine.”
James stared at Tom for a few moments, trying to get a good luck at his son. It was the first time he had seen him after all. And there was no denying they were related. Tom had James’ great-grandpa’s nose.
It was then that James realized the real reason behind Tom’s visit.
"great-grandpa's nose"
in the comments below leave me a clue,
an idea for a story you'd love to read,
a journey to the unknown my keyboard will lead.
If you enjoy writing yourself, I am hosting a constrained writing contest, where each week I limit your writing with various rules and force you to be creative in brand new ways! If you're not a writer yourself, check it out and see what others have come up with! :D
I turn your writing prompts into stories.
Want such a table for your own work? Or even make it better?

Tom is very understanding of his father's leaving. So many would have held at least a tiny grudge. Makes me even more curious as to what the family legacy truly is...
Today I am traveling from the town of Freewrite, delivering the latest of the Goddess Marianne's prompts accompanied with the musical honk of my bicycle's horn!
https://steemit.com/freewrite/@mariannewest/day-87-5-minute-freewrite-sunday-prompt-turbine
You're roughly 5 minutes away from learning it ;) haha :D Though I think I'll post it later, but write it now :p
A musical honk, you say?
Music to my ears! 😂 Nothing inspires one more than a finely squeezed horn! It's wonderful to find another aficionado!
The proper technique takes years of training. And even then, it takes full focus to do it just right.
Bringing forth delicate music to move the soul is an endeavor that deserves the full devotion of the artist.
Such art is also best enjoyed in solitude due to... Involuntary bodily fluid excretion.
It's best to have those moments to ourselves. Not al art needs to be shared. Private appreciation can be very emotional. :)
Can be, and is very emotional indeed.
