I just really need to share something I've been saying myself for years.

I can't keep it in anymore so here goes...

Winners create what they want. Losers accept what they are given.

I used to own a shit hole trailer on a decent 10 acre plot.

When I moved in the mold was so bad in certain walls that I tore the paneling down.

Not having enough money to put up sheet rock I opted for clear 6 mil plastic instead.

You could then occasionally see the mice scurrying through the walls that otherwise would have only been heard.

I used to say to guests that I told my interior decorator I wanted a theme of redneck hell hole...

and she nailed it lol.

I could have let this bother me but instead that horrendous clear plastic with pink insulation, mice and wiring showing through underneath quickly became my canvas.

Knowing that I was eventually going to be rid of the trailer to add something better to the land anyway, I spent a couple dollars on a couple extra wide sharpie markers (much cheaper than drywall lol).

Every time I heard or read an inspiring quote I would take one of these markers and write it on the wall, on that clear plastic somewhere.

Before I knew it I couldn't look anywhere and not see a super inspiring or motivational quote.

I painted the walls in my office white and would do the same in there, specifically where I could see easily from my desk.

The average person that would have walked in that place would have seen it as a dump.

They would have thought me a complete loser and I'm sure many did.

I used to say, "It's a shit hole, but it's my shit hole."

My walls, some windows and even some of the ceiling were eventually covered in such quotes.

You couldn't open your eyes really anywhere and not see at least one.

I could have accepted what I was given when I got the place but instead I made it what I wanted it to be.

You see, those quotes gave me the feelings of inspiration, motivation and understanding that I not only wanted, but knew I needed as well.

That home became so comfortable for me that it was very hard to finally sell it.

When I needed a pick me up for any reason, one was right there where I could see it.

On the wall as I walked out each day to tackle the world I put my own quote, the one above, and made it a mantra as I left each day...

Every day I told myself I was going to create, and I did.

I managed to pay that property off completely in 3 years, mice and all...

Free and clear deed in hand, and without changing a thing, I sold it 5 years later to an excited couple for more than double what I paid for it, mice and all.

On the wall as I left that final time, after closing the sale, I saw:
