Robert Lee Frost (March 26, 1874 – January 29, 1963) was an American poet. His work was initially published in England before it was published in America. He is highly regarded for his realistic depictions of rural life and his command of American colloquial speech. His work frequently employed settings from rural life in New England in the early twentieth century, using them to examine complex social and philosophical themes. One of the most popular and critically respected American poets of the twentieth century, Frost was honored frequently during his lifetime, receiving four Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry. He became one of America's rare "public literary figures, almost an artistic institution." He was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 1960 for his poetic works. On July 22, 1961, Frost was named poet laureate of Vermont.

I remember learning about this guy in high school.

His quote for today is great.

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I...
I took the one less traveled by,
and that has made all the difference."

The road less traveled.

I have to admit there are many roads less traveled that lead to nowhere.

Nonetheless we hear this a lot don't we?

I can tell you this, the crowd is often being led.

By media, by authorities and by each other.

Personally I've never had a crowd mentality, I've always taken my own path.

Have I succeeded more than others?

No idea, I do my best to only compete with myself.

It has taken me to some very interesting places though.

I could easily say that I have experienced and seen things many others have not because of it.

I guess the question to ponder when deciding between your own path or that of the crowd is this:

What do you really want?

Do you want what the crowd has?

If so, following the crowd may benefit you.

If you want something different however, following the crowd will not bring you there.

If you want something different from the crowd, your path will likely have far less people on it.

Effectively putting you on the road less traveled.

The key is to make sure this path is leading you somewhere you actually want to go.

At minimum, you should be enjoying the journey.

If you choose a path and simply don't like it, then perhaps you've chosen the wrong path for you.

The thing is, we don't all want the same things.

We may want many of the same things like being comfortable and feeling loved, but our inner most desires are not all the same.

We want what we want, as individuals.

If we want what we want bad enough we should choose whatever path assures we will get there.

You mom, dad, sister or old friend from high school don't know what that path is for you.

Your boss and coworkers most likely don't truly relate with that want.

One person does.

You.

If you are used to the herd, the road less traveled might seem scary at first.

However, if the path you choose is truly bringing you to something you want, that feeling will fade quickly as you begin to walk it.

So choose the path that is best for you.

Remember,

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I...
I took the one less traveled by,
and that has made all the difference."

Really great written and so true. If one door closes then open another, don't follow the crowd but follow You👈 choose the patch you want to go to reach your destination, not the destination someone else has putted up.
Be your own boss over your own life😆

It is your life after all :)

That it is my friend 😆

edit: this reminded me of a scripture you have probably heard ...Matthew 7:14 "But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life (Jesus being the way the truth and the life) , and only a few find it." Interesting metaphorically as well with what Frost and Scott Peck have written about.

hmmm... nice.

My sister lives in Orlando, we were a little worried. Glad you are ok :)

For me the key is as you say "The key is to make sure this path is leading you somewhere you actually want to go." I agree fully, I am not one to follow the crowd unless that is the nay way to get to where I want to be, if not I will happily look for my own path

Thus the road less traveled by ;)

Yes Indeed :)
