Wayne Douglas Gretzky CC (born January 26, 1961) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and former head coach. He played twenty seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for four teams from 1979 to 1999. Nicknamed "The Great One", he has been called "the greatest hockey player ever" by many sportswriters, players, and the league itself. He is the leading scorer in NHL history, with more goals and assists than any other player. He garnered more assists than any other player scored total points, and is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season – a feat he accomplished four times. In addition, he tallied over 100 points in 16 professional seasons, 14 of them consecutive. At the time of his retirement in 1999, he held 61 NHL records: 40 regular-season records, 15 playoff records, and six All-Star records. As of 2015, he still holds 60 NHL records.

One of the most famous hockey players ever.

This guys career definitely will be remembered by anyone into hockey.

He has a quote that I wanted to share today:

"Procrastination is one of the most common and deadliest of diseases and its toll on success and happiness is heavy."

What he says here is pretty intense but very correct as well.

Procrastination is deadly and it really does hurt your progress.

I almost don't have to tell you but I will anyway.

Time doesn't wait.

Life doesn't wait.

Your success doesn't wait.

So you shouldn't either.

It's been said so much it's nearly cliche but how often do we really listen?

"Never put off til tomorrow something that can be done today."

So how does waiting until tomorrow really affect us?

Well, lets see...

It will postpone fulfillment of a goal which in turn makes the time between feeling accomplished greater. This of course increases our chances of not wanting to reach the next goal.

Often when we wait until tomorrow the situation has changed. Sometimes something that we could've done is much less rewarding or not even possible at all.

It consumes time, our most precious resource.

When you wait one day to do something you are not behind by one day.

What do I mean?

The things you accomplish propel you forward on your path. This propulsion becomes exponential like a snowball.

When you wait a day this propulsion slows or even stops. You now have to get the train moving again which takes far more energy then continuing the momentum that would've already existed.

In short, procrastination makes your next step much harder than it ever needed to be.

Due to this, one day of procrastinating could make you miss out on a multitude of potential opportunities.

You see, procrastination is really like a silent killer lurking in the shadows taking bits of your mojo and life force as you move down life's path.

So, if you want to only have what you have now and only do what you have done before, then by all means, procrastinate all you want.

However, if you want to achieve, succeed and shape your life the way you choose then procrastination is certainly not an option.

If you are putting something off until tomorrow but you truly want to be happy, then stop reading and go do it!

My post is here to stay, your opportunity has a window of availability.

Remember how Wayne liked to say it:

"Procrastination is one of the most common and deadliest of diseases and its toll on success and happiness is heavy."

Thanks for reading.
