Jason Thomas Mraz (born June 23, 1977) is an American singer-songwriter who first came to prominence in the San Diego coffee shop scene in 2000. In 2002, he released his debut studio album, Waiting for My Rocket to Come, which contained the hit single "The Remedy (I Won't Worry)". With the release of his second album, Mr. A-Z, in 2005, Mraz achieved major commercial success. The album peaked at number 5 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 100,000 copies in the US. In 2008, Mraz released his third studio album, We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. It debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200 and was an international commercial success primarily due to the hit "I'm Yours". The song peaked at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving him his first top ten single, and spent a then-record 76 weeks on the Hot 100. His fourth album, Love Is a Four Letter Word, peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200, his highest-charting album to date.

I really don't know a lot about this guy but he had a good quote for today.

"You're not obligated to win.
You're obligated to keep trying.
Do the best you can do everyday."

The only person you are truly in competition with is yourself.

Trying to compete to win with others can leave you feeling unfulfilled sometimes even if you do win.

It is very nice when we win things but it is not essential.

Waking up every day and taking one more step toward a goal is far more important.

Each time you do that next step you reinforce your ability to do it.

You also strengthen the attraction that it has to you.

Each day that you put in on the path to your goal you not only get closer to your goal, it also gets closer to you.

You've probably heard it said that you eat an elephant one bite at a time.

Well your goal is that elephant.

Each day you put in is that next bite.

As long as you put forth genuine effort each day, you are building on the foundation of all the times before that.

When we do the very best we can to reach our goals we are destined to get there.

It's when we start skipping days that we begin to slow down, that we begin to lose sight of the goal.

It's only then that we lose our momentum.

Taking even the smallest step, the smallest bite can still keep up your momentum and keep you moving toward your goal.

Even on days when we feel like we just can't do anything, we can usually do just enough to keep that dream alive.

It's on these days that the true test of our endurance lies.

Since the universe knows no excuses, it will never accept that we needed a sick day.

It will not accept that we we're too tired or frustrated.

When we put our goal on hold for any reason whatsoever we begin to lose the momentum that we've put so much effort into.

So, the next day that you really don't feel like taking a step toward your goal and you are thinking that one day won't hurt anything, pay attention, you just might feel everything slow down.

Keep trying, keep pushing, keep moving, even if it is at a snails pace because that momentum is what will ultimately be your power later.

That momentum is what becomes the magic you see that the most successful people in the world seem to have in spades.

Remember what Jason had to say.

"You're not obligated to win.
You're obligated to keep trying.
Do the best you can do everyday."

Moving forward is essential, one step at a time. When you look back at the end of the week, month or year you will be so glad you took those snail steps when you didn't want to move because those extra little steps will have gotten you to your target! 🎯
