Because Chapter 3 got split into two chapters (namely 3 and 4), we are now at chapter 5.

“Wait.” Tom and James were left puzzled. They had so many questions they didn’t know where to begin. “You mean to say Fishnick didn’t create this dome here to rule over you people? Everyone came because they wanted to?” James asked, awaiting an answer with his next question ready.
“That’s pretty much how the story goes, yeah. Pretty crazy, right? Welcome to come if you want it, but you can never leave.”
“But why the fence then? Why keep all the people here?”
“Beats me. Probably so no secret gets out, I don’t know.”
“Secret? What kind of secret do you mean?” James enquired.
The boy sighed again. “Look, I don’t know. I’m just a worker here. A miner. I go to the mines, I dig and excavate, and I go back home. I don’t ask any questions.” The boy turned around and waved to a friend of his. Before heading over in his direction, he said one final thing to the two gunslingers. “And trust me, neither should you.”
The two looked at each other, with a look just as puzzled as before, and smiled. Things have gotten interesting and they both loved a good challenge.

But who to ask? The common workers don't know anything, and the ones further up the ladder - supposedly - shouldn't be questioned... :p

There's always the "mess things up deliberately" strategy. Though, they may get some punishment along with answers as to why they shouldn't do what they did. 😏😉
