5 minute freewrite challenge - The Over 20 Club

Roughly two months ago - give or take a few days or a week - I joined one of the more amazing communities here on the STEEM platform - The Freewriters!
It is a community "lead" by @mariannewest who delivers freshly baked writing prompts on a daily basis. She then allows you 5 minutes to write a story about that idea, some extra time to edit out the typos you might have made, ... and then you present your work to the others.
Why is it so special and different?
Because it's pure creativity and originality! You only get 5 minutes to write down whatever comes to mind! It reflects the way your brain works and how your ideas connect to one another.
It's a great exercise both for writing down a short story and for brainstorming for a longer piece.
And it's fun. Tonnes of fun!
Aside of that, @mariannewest also nominates 5 people every week who have done 20 or more freewrites and invites them to write up a post containing their favorite stories they have come up with and are past their payouts. That way she allows us to get an extra set of eyes on our former stories, and get some upvotes on the tribute post, because upvotes on older posts don't give any $$$$$$. Also, this forces the freewriters to re-read their work and pick only the finest of their stories.
This week, @mariannewest nominated me to present you with 3 of my favorite stories I have done as freewrites!
And here they are!
Firstly I would like to present the story I've come up with when given the prompt "pen".
Because I don't want to give away too much and ruin it's final twist, I'll only tell you that it's a love story between two individuals who can never be together.
Check it out by clicking here.
Sadly no picture here.Like the first choice, this one also has a twist I wish not to give away before you read the story itself. This time, however, it has to do with the provided prompt. It's written in a way to make you believe something much worse is going on.... Until you learn what the prompt was.
Check it out by clicking here.
Sadly no picture here either. And of course, last but not least, Wild West. The very favorite of all my freewrites.
I wrote the first part to this story as an ordinary freewrite, but then a Steemian asked me to write a part 2... And then I wrote part 3, and part 4, and ... ... I'm now 43 parts down the line, with one full chapter completed, and the story had only just begun well. There's no knowing where the story will take you... Or where it will take me... Each part is the result of a new daily writing prompt and only 5 minutes time.
Nothing is predetermined. Nothing is set in stone. Everything is possible.

Freewriting has helped me meet awesome people who I hold awesome conversations with both on and off Steemit, and it just all around presented me with so many new awesome content creators!
Also, I would like to specially thank @mariannewest for all the work she had done, is doing, and will do! She is just the best!If you have some VP to spare, shower her with some love!

Congrats on reaching the 20+ #freewrite Club!
Thank you very much! :D
I loved the freewrites you posted! My mom used to pull teeth with a string and a slap to the face :) It was distracting to the kid involved, so they never noticed the pain of the tooth. Weird Kids.
I love the creativity that you approached it with... also loved the love story as well ;)
Very happy to hear that! :D
Hahaha now that's an approach I never heard of before haha :D But hey, whatever works, right? :D
*blushes
Well done making into the over 20s club. I loved your Pen freewrite. Nice twist.
Thanks! :D So very happy you liked it! :D
I must say, I somewhat miss writing something other than Wild West... Hmmm~.. The weekend approaches.
I am now more inspired to keep going on freewrite tag. I had just done 1 yesterday. Reading your blog and knowing how many you have done already, I can't wait to keep tab on mine as well. To more freewriting post! Thank you!
Heeeeey! That's awesome! :D
You definitely should write freewrites more! They only take 5 minutes so there's literally no excuse not to do it! Even on my laziest days I can't come up with an excuse good enough not to give 5 minutes to write a freewrite. :D
Sometimes you even surprise your own self with how much you can write in just 5 minutes time... And how good a story you can come up with! :D
I think of these freewrites a lot like.. "unlocking the mind"... because for those 5 minutes, no boundary exists. Every thought is allowed. And written down, of course. :p
So very happy to have you on board! And so very happy to hear you've enjoyed my freewrites! And that it inspired/motivated you to write more! :D
I agree with everything that you said! Myyyy its been a while that I get connected with someone who write as well. I still have a lot of catching up to do but definitely up for the challenge.
5minutes is 5 minutes and I think thats what makes the writing exciting and challenging. Hope my mind won't run out of words in the middle of the 5 hahahahaha....
Thank you for welcoming me!
If you forget the word you're trying to get, just fill the gap with whatever word comes to mind, or do as I do... I write down MISSING in the middle of text and just go to it when the 5 minutes are up and find the word I was looking for. :p
If you stress too much over that word, or try to over-edit as you type, it might really not end well. :p
And as with everything, practice makes perfect! ;D
Thank you for the post! Unfortunately, I don't have the time to read every day the posts of every Steemian I'm interested in... they're too many!
But the over 20 club give me the opportunity to read at least some posts of my fellow freewriters that may have remained out of my radar.
Wild West is great, but the twist you gave to the first two prompts is nice too! :)
I very much feel you; the community has grown in size so much it's nearly impossible to keep up! :O
I'm happy you stumbled upon my post.... and liked the contents! :D And so very happy you enjoy Wild West! :D
Thank you very much <3
I love your emphasis on the creativity and fun that freewriting offers! Your enthusiasm brings so much to this group!
I hadn't read Forbidden Love or Ending the Pain before and I'm glad that I had the chance to. As for Wild West, I love the characters that you've created and can't get enough of the twists and turns in this world that you're developing! (Bonus points for the best use of a duck in a western since Blazing Saddles!)
Thanks! So very happy to hear you've enjoyed my stories so far, and are enjoying Wild West! :D
Hahhaha thanks! :D I actually got around to editing Chapter 1 in full and posting it as one post instead of the scattered 30, and now am looking forward to doing the same with Chapter 2 at some point :p
Good job on making it into the over 20 club @svashta I always enjoy dropping in to check out some of your writing. That story about the pen is really just very very good... I like freewrites like that when the story only becomes apparent at the end. It's a really good style.. See you around. Peace out.
Thanks! :D
Yeah, I love such stories also ^^ The stories you want to read twice because of the twist are the best stories ever! ;P
Thanks for dropping by! ;D
