Drawing like a pro - 109, - Drawing a vine leaf, first steps - (#club100)
Hi friends!
First, try to understand the geometry of your model, and then, using long, thin strokes, draw the basic shape on the drawing paper. In this way, you will have defined the position and size of the model on the paper.
Then, draw the margin of the leaf, drawing its serrated shape.
Define the main veins of the leaf, paying attention to the good position of their centre of convergence. This coincides with the birth of the petiole.
Next, do the same drawing the secondary veins, paying attention to their symmetrical arrangement in relation to the main veins.
Now you can define the margin of the leaf a bit more by drawing slightly darker lines.
Now we will work the inside of the leaf with the hatching technique.
Hatching is the technique of creating parallel lines to give the illusion of light and shadow. Draw lines closer together to create dark values, lines farther from each other create highlights and mid-tones. By applying more pressure to the pencil you will get the darkest areas (be careful not to damage the paper, the pressure should always be gentle).
You can continue to apply more strokes in the areas you want to darken. If it happens to get too dark, take the graphite off by gently tapping with a kneadable rubber, avoiding staining the paper.
I wish you a very nice day and good exercise!
Well, our friend @arcoiris is back with his magnificent watercolour lessons.

Also, thanks to @xpilar for making these initiatives possible with their great support.
That is beautiful maple leaf. I always was fascinated with the gometry of that leaf and its pattern on it. It is nice to see how using hte geometric shape the form of leaf can be created and done!
Thank you, Stef! I'm glad to receive your kind comment, as always.
Lovely as usual.
Thank you Ran, glad to see you!
Hmm. And here I disagree. This is the very perfect leaf.
Very often nature likes to make asymmetry.
I often looked at the maple leaf and checked its symmetry. She is absent, she is not.
But I welcome your grape leaf drawing model.
Hi Aleksandr (@apnigrich)! I'm so glad to see you and read your kind comment. I agree with you, the beauty of symmetry in nature lies in its asymmetry, but as you know, this tutorial is only intended to show the technique to use the drawing tools. So I didn't pay so much attention to that aspect, but later I will, sure.
I appreciate your aesthetic appreciation and I absolutely agree with you.
Thank you, hope to see you again!
I'm following your posts. They are always interesting for me to read.
Thank you very much @apnigrich, I really appreciate it!
