Drawing like a pro - 91, Drawing, tools and materials

Hi friends!

I would like to tell you about some difficulties that we find when trying to draw and don't get the results expected so we believe is our lack of the necessary talent. I must tell you that talent is the sum of experience and knowledge over time, so study and exercise are the keys.
A great difficulty when we start to draw is that we don't get the right combination of support (paper, cardboard, fabric, etc) and tools (pencils, charcoal, ink, etc) because a good combination depends on many factors. Well, for each need there are different combinations, only you with your experience through exercise will get the answer.
In this post, I'll show you a few drawings from different periods (some of these are very old), and made in different media using what I have found to be the right drawing tool for that material, so you can get a better idea of what you might choose to draw on.
As a general rule, fine-grain paper and hard pencils are used for drawings with fine lines and/or many details and/or small sizes. Drawings with fewer lines and more stains are used with coarser grain or textured paper and soft pencils, pastels, or charcoal.
But don't forget: all the rules can be transgressed and you have the right to experiment, even more, it is mandatory to experiment to progress.
Lastly, try to draw in a way that you hold the tip of your pencil always sharp.

This is a drawing on A4 Bond paper (printing paper).
Bond paper is very smooth and thin.
To draw I used a mechanical pencil 0.5

This is drawn on Bond paper too. You can see the typing through the sheet on the back side because I've recycled it.
I used two mechanical pencils: 0.5 and 0.7

This was drawn with HB pencil on fine-grain drawing paper.

These doodles were drawn with a 2B pencil on a textured drawing sheet.

This is an ink drawing on thin, fine-grain watercolour paper, approx 30cm in width.
