Drawing like a pro - 79, Three-points perspective - Looking down

in WORLD OF XPILAR2 years ago

Hi friends!

In the previous post we see the three-point perspective looking up, in this one we will see the three-point perspective but looking down.
Basically the process is the same, just change the location of the third vanishing point, instead of being placed at the top, it is placed at the bottom of the drawing page.
Also, the horizon line in this case is located above the elements that we will draw, the opposite case of looking up where the horizon line was located at the bottom of our drawing.

-----------------------------------------------

By drawing a pentagon inscribed in a circle, and projecting its five vertices onto an ellipse drawn below the horizon line (an ellipse is a circle in perspective), we get the pentagon in perspective.
For more details on how to project a geometric figure in perspective, see this lesson:

Then, by the extension of the two closest edges, VP1 and VP2 are defined on the front faces of the pentagon. The next step is to determine the VP3 at the bottom.

Here is the outlined figure. I also drew an inner edge to make it a hollow body.

In red the sun rays and the vanishing lines for the casting shadows.
In this case it is for a sunset in front of the viewer.

I wish you a very nice day and good exercise!

And if you like to colour your drawings, I recommend the interesting and useful Color and Light classes of @fumansiu whose concepts you can apply both with traditional and digital techniques.

Or maybe you want to make a beautiful watercolour with your drawing!
Well, our friend @arcoiris is back with his magnificent watercolour lessons.
Check out this last post that contains very interesting and useful advice about watercolours in different qualities and formats from different brands.

Many thanks to @bambuka and @stef1 once again for their encouragement and support.
Also, thanks to @xpilar for making these initiatives possible.
