lesson 62.jpg

Hi friends!

"Do as I say, not as I do."
This sentence makes a lot of sense to me now that I'm going to comment on the work that @stef1 sent a few days ago.
I once told her that she should take some time to review her drawings before publishing them as a final work.
When I posted this lesson (Drawing a pyramid), I didn't do what I told her to always do.
I apologize for that and will try to make sure it doesn't happen again in the future...because...I made a mistake...and now I'll try to fix this to avoid future confusion when we go ahead with the shadows topics.

-----------------------------------------------

First of all, and as I told @stef1 before, her drawing is very well done, according to the example I gave.

But, I don't know why I put that third shape that is not related to the topic of the pyramids.
And, to top it off, it's with this figure that I made a mistake and I didn't realize it until I saw @stef1's shadows drawing. That third shadow isn't well achieved.

I immediately went to check my post and I saw the same error in my drawing.
08.jpg

Despite correctly outlining the shadow perimeter of this object, I don't remember why I omitted to shade that part.
07.jpg

By reviewing the steps of @stef1's drawing process I noticed she made the same outlining for the shadow.
That makes me think she trusts very much in what I do, perhaps too much. So, I can't let pass this without giving a correction to my mistake.

I have marked here the points where the sun's rays touch the vertices of the object and its projection on the ground, I have also numbered the segments or edges (1, 2, 3) and their corresponding ones on the ground to draw the edges of the shadow..

This should have been the end result.

Well friends, I apologize once again but I think this must also be a good example of how we can learn from our mistakes when we do the necessary to fix them.

I wish you a very nice day and I hope you continue doing drawing exercises!

And if you like to colour your drawings, I recommend the interesting and useful Color and Light classes of @fumansiu whose concepts you can apply both with traditional and digital techniques.
https://steemit.com/hive-185836/@fumansiu/color-and-light-orange-round-2
is his newest lesson.
Very interesting indeed!

Or maybe you want to make a beautiful watercolour with your drawing!
Well, our friend @arcoiris is back with his magnificent watercolour lessons.
Check out this last post that contains very interesting and useful advice about watercolours in different qualities and formats from different brands.

Many thanks to @bambuka and @stef1 once again for their encouragement and support.
Also, thanks to @xpilar for making these initiatives possible with their great support.

Thank you very much !!

Hi Jorge,

Thank you for your comment on this work, I remember that when I was doing the shadow on the third object was not sure if it was correct, but I was not able to figure our how the posterior shadow should be done and you are right I saw what you did and thought that it maybe how it should be. That is good that you caught that mistake.

The Shadows of such 3d objects is difficult because one have to think three dimensional on two dimension paper.

I often tell my husband that I did not go to Orthopedic because when they put screws and pins they use Xray and it is showing the stuff in 2D that was something that I struggled to imagine and decided to go to general surgery instead.

Hi Stef, it's a pleasure and I hope I haven't caused too much confusion. Sometimes these little mistakes help us understand better when we make the effort to fix them. Perhaps these perspective exercises will help you develop three-dimensional thinking.
