Hi friends!

People love order and repetition, that is what our ancient philosophers and scholars have known since time immemorial. And that knowledge has been applied by all the great artists of all time, in all disciplines and in all styles.
Drawing is magic, the artist is a magician who knows how to deceive you to make you see something on paper or canvas that does not exist , something that is nothing more than a set of lines and stains and counts on your complicity and acceptance to give them a meaning.
You will accept the trick based on your culture (the Eastern perspective is different from the Western perspective), your experiences and your education.
Order and repetition is what we all unconsciously seek for our pleasure, that's why we like to see trains, the forest, a flock of birds migrating,or a spider web, that's why we enjoy music, painting or dance, when we capture that order and repetition even if we are not aware of it.
When it comes to Op-Art, this is critical because it is about irritating our eyes and messing with our brains and for this to be believable, that order and repetition must be strictly adhered to.

The "Drawing like a pro" posts don't have the intention of turning you into an exceptional or outstanding artist, that depends only on you, on your efforts. The goal of these publications is to share knowledge, tips and tricks already shared by other artists to help us in the "craft of drawing" to give you the tools to be critic on your own work and appreciate how important is to pay attention to some details.
The homeworks that I propose are absolutely related to the lessons or master classes taught previously. Therefore, the evaluation of your submitted drawings is related to the achievement in the application of the rules or methods taught.
Based on these principles is that I am going to judge the drawing sent by our friend @edidiongeffiong, hoping that he understands that the purpose of this competition goes beyond the mere obtaining of upvotes.

This is the drawing our friend has submitted, the first impression is a very good impression, but after a second look is evident that he don't take care of applying any of the perspective rules.

The result is not bad but it is not pleasant because the sense of order is lost due the squares are not squares and they are all different (compare with the red squares drawn).

These rhomboids are not a good representation of squares in perspective.
02.jpg

The sense of depth is not continuous due to distortion that occurs because the use of an incorrectly drawn grid.

I sincerely hope that these indications are useful to @edidiongeffiong because I am convinced that if you had studied and applied the perspective rules shown to make this drawing, your work would have been excellent.
Keep always in mind that these lesson and homework aim to help you to improve your drawing skills and that there aren't simply a drawing contest.

I wish you a very nice day and good exercise!
