I ordered a 3rd visa extension on that Friday, the fourth day of December of 2015. That was the biggest thing that happened that day. I paid for the extension that day from the same travel agency that made me extensions in the past. I had 2 FYG classes in the evening, notes included below. My brother, Rick Arnold, wrote a message to me about perseverance found in leaders. I wrote an outline to my life in Vietnam: dates, addresses, locations, names.

My Life in Vietnam - 2012 - 11 - 12

All time-stamps are in Pacific Standard Time (PST) unless otherwise noted: the local-time in Vietnam was in the Indo-China Time (ICT): for five years, I lived in the ICT time-zone: ICT is 13 hours ahead of PST (in the summer):

Order a 3rd Extension

I gave the travel agency money for the extension on that Friday morning.

Christmas

I think I have to be ok

I've known about Christmas for a very long time but I didn't go out to see the lights

Sometimes, I take pictures or selfies with Santa or the Christmas lights or Christmas tree

Santa Claus or Saint Nicholas

Old man: mustache and beard

Gives gifts to & for the children

His reindeer rides or drives him

He rides in a sleigh or box or cart like a car with no wheels & is pulled by the reindeer

Attached by rope

Collocation: normal (popular) way of talking: putting the right words together

Like phrasal verbs:

Take a shower: not have a shower

Chimneys have fire or fireplace

Chimneys allow smoke to escape the house

People here don't usually have them

Find them in houses, factories, restaurants, maybe some churches

He goes down the chimney with the power of like magic or something

Magic is special, like powers that can do things that are like impossible to do

Magic could like help you fly

How can Santa go down the chimney?

He throws his bed down the chimney, jumps into the chimney & lands on the bed. Later, he jumps on the bed & out of the chimney

He does this each time for the billions of houses in the world all in one night

How long would it take for Santa to visit all of the houses in the world?

One hour divided by billions of houses?

How long for one house?

He would have to be very fast to do this

He has many helpers or impostors (clones, twins, people that look like him)

They deliver the toys

Some people are paid money to sit down while looking like Santa

Why is he sitting down?

What is he waiting for?

Children come & pray or talk to him

Children sit on his lap (knees of the legs)

Children are attracted by Santa and they want to pull his beard

They ask him for gifts, toys, & candy

You have to wait in a long line

You may wait for hours to see him

I may have seen him at least once but only for like a few seconds

He asked me what I wanted & I might have said that I didn't know; and that probably ended our meeting

Have you met Santa?

Parents pay money for Santa men to come visit

Parents buy the gifts & Santa men deliver those gifts to the kids

The staff come to deliver the toys while being dressed up as Santa people

If you were in Vietnam in 2006, you would have seen me as a Santa

Santa on bikes

Stocking: the Christmas socks or bags

Long ago, people had these socks. One man would not receive gifts from Nick but did accept gifts or the gold in the socks. Maybe he didn't know it came from Nick

The poor man had three daughters.

Is Santa real?

Yes and no.

No, not exactly.

Yes, because Santa is based on Saint Nicholas, a real person from long ago.

Based on or inspired by. The story comes from Nick who died in 343 AD.

Based on, not built on

Build on: make a building taller and to add to ideas and principles and theories

Nick from Turkey

Reindeer have antlers, like horns or sticks on the heads

Horn, not horse

Candy canes are red for blood & white for purity

Canes are used by shepherds (farmers) who guide & protect sheep

Farmers harvest (grow) crops (food, plants) & raise livestock (animals)

Dig a hole. Put the seed in the hole.

Water the seed as it grows into a plant, tree, vine, or other things

Breeding: animals have more animals: reproduce: have a baby

Farmers breed animals by choosing who the parents will be

How do you know this word?

Who taught you this word?

Maybe, just by chance

I wrote the word into my dictionary or translator & it gave me this word in English: it translated it for me

Candy cane: peppermint stick: 1670: Cologne, Germany

Reindeer

Sleigh, sled

Jingle bell

Frozen; freeze; ice; cold; frost

Ice hockey

Puck: hockey ball: disc

Hockey is like soccer or football with sticks & ice

Christmas trees

Christmas lights

Stockings

Santa

Go to the church

Go out with your friends

Activities

What do we do

Food

Gifts

Christmas Day: 25th of December

Christmas Eve: evening or night before: that is the 24th

Boxing Day: 26th: for the slaves and servants or workers

Christmas = Christ + MAS

A lot of expats (even some locals, but this is not about locals) are in Joey Arnold group. These sets of expats will ask you where they could get salt and fish in a district in Saigon. Different Classes

11:33 PM - Blogspot - I wrote the following:

ifferent Classes....
Different English classes provides different benefits for the different students with their individual & unique needs at their own pace, style, & level. Classes are customizable. Class curriculum meets the demands of the learners. Here is an example of some of the classes: students may want to study & practice the following things:
.

  1. Listening
  2. Speaking & pronunciation
  3. Reading
  4. Writing & grammar
  5. Job interviews: work related things: careers
  6. Life skills; majors, subjects, topics; and more
  7. special things like IELTS, TOEIC, TEFL, etc.....
    .
Students can decide what to study in their classes. We can negotiate. We can decide together. The students of each class can vote for what they want to study & focus on. Each class aims to help the students towards finding careers & success in life. My focus is in helping people become the best kind of people they can become for themselves & for all of humanity in the best ways possible.

Don't Worry

04:05 PM - Rick Arnold wrote: "Don't worry about what other people say. Think about Thomas Edison. He tried 15000 different elements till he found the right one to use in the light bulb, tungsten. Probably everyone told him to give up. And Noah, for 100 years hearing people make fun of him saying he didn't know what he was doing, even his family, I'm sure. All you can say to the people who talk bad about you is- thanks for your feedback. God bless you. And I guarantee they will never bother you again. Like Jesus when he was accused by the Jews, didn't respond to them, because he didn't have to respond to the stupid and dishonest things they said about him. And remember, the Jewish leaders were jealous of Jesus and his following. These people are probably jealous of you, because they don't have the friends and ability to get along with people like you do. Also, the hardest people to get along with are that way because they are hurting inside and so they try to make other people as miserable as they are. But no one can change our attitude in life unless we let them." 06:56 PM: "Yeah. Laughing is better than crying."
