an ode to summer - an original poem
oh Summer, my best friend Summer
you come to make me feel such bliss
and when you go it's such a bummer
cause it's you in winter that i miss
.
i'm happy you decided to stick around
and keep your colder brother at bay
because i hate his windy-rainy sound
that makes my memories of you fade away
.
but mouldy autumn comes on like slow death
and i'm already missing you, dear summer
he makes the cold air condense my breath
and beats on my roof like an evil drummer
.
come winter i feel frozen like black ice
with his grey foggy skies and dreary cold
fading memories of you help resist his vise
resist the darkest hand that is taking hold
.
finaly the stagnant one is replaced by spring
i like her too, because she foreshadows delight
skies regaining colors, finally start to sing
all crescendo gearing up to shout and ignite
.
summer, of all the seasons i love you most
on most memorable nights you were the host
for many parties that lasted past the dawn
ending up in cosmic conversation on the lawn

Real life, it can be time consuming... The last few weeks I worked in my yard, cleaning stuff out and getting it winter ready. I have torn down one of my sheds and gotten a new one too. The new one will be set up in spring, after I lay the foundation for it. So, it was a great thing that summer decided to stick around some more, working in the rain is not my hobby. So with all that out of the way for now, it was time I finished some of the poems that I was working on.
