For the love of stones... An original poem.
For the love of stones...
when taking walks along the beach
some stone will catch my eye
i will pick it up with just one reach
look at it and gently rub it dry
Some stones are sleek and curved
touch soft like Shetland wool
they feel like presents undeserved
so smooth, so soft, so cool
each and every stone has it's own vibration
their structure being crystalline
so the're supposed to have oscillation
which some consider much benign
and then there's stones too that are bad
even though they're only carbon
like glass transparent they still are red
blood diamonds in the jargon
these stones mined in conflict areas
are used to fuel a war machine
they just benefit tyrants and hyenas
enabling deeds and goals not clean
these diamonds are supposedly
every girls best friend
but if you know as much as me
they're money badly spent
they're the end of peace and liberty
in Congo, Angola, Ivory Coast
the cause and fuel of untold misery
too much for me to bear almost
when finally you offer her that ring
to celebrate and seal your love
i hope you will do the right thing
and not ask your sweetest dove
to wear a thing by blood unclean
love shouldn't cause any pain
to you, or me and not your queen
you know that that's insane.
