burst that bubble baby!
with claims of equality, freedom and peace
some of us are really hurting our humanity
feeling so snug and slick in soapy bubbles
only getting it exactly as they want
avoiding comparison with different minds
arm long lists of controversial topics
are only asphyxiating any real discussion
only serve to stifle mental growth
creating a shallow illusion of strength
while dividers gleefully celebrate victory
unable to contemplate the smallest dissent
born and grown up in this electronic age
of being offered only what you seek
growth stinted by increasingly tender hearts
in an expanding balloon of intolerance
it is divide and conquer on a higher level
tailored ads molding brains into submission
designed to divide us into a foamy froth
makes us vanquished by invisible rulers
until they make the bubble violently pop
mental growth does not come from leisure
it is only promoted by a clash of minds
achieved by stepping out of comfort zones
because people that agree on everything
turn into a choir singing the same old song
when phone zombies finally start to awaken
i know some will be first and some will be last
to see the anti social in social networks
start asking questions instead of only judging
we again will move towards some real humanity
so return to mix and mingle with dissenters
promote open and respectful discourse
strive for a huge bubble called planet earth
work together to sustain every living being
and achieve real peace, equality and freedom
burst that bubble baby!
So, another poem, this one came about due to recent experiences. It is a disease of this current world, we are bubbeling ourselves in our own tiny worlds, aided by the likes of facebook and other "social" media. This has led us down a dangerous path of ultra division. And i think we all know that "united we stand and divided we fall", so the world is in dire need of a re-evaluation of our social media use. In the end we are all human and we all have more or less the same needs and wishes. In my opinion we should all step out of the box and meet those people that we have a problem with. It is better to talk with each other than talk about each other, much more can be learned that way, more potential for growth lies there. So, burst that bubble baby!
We @poetsunited are working very hard to make our community more visible and effective, often many hours a day and 'till deep in the night. Even how tired I am of sitting on the Internet (have been some days now), I feel all the energy coming back when reading great poems like this one: the points you work on here is just marvelous and you've nailed our times most challenging work: to drop out of the anti-social "social media" and come back to the real world with real people and real conversations: to meet one another.

Do you try to emphasize that it is not a good idea to live inside a bubble, taking it as a metaphor in front of the comfort zone in which some of us live?
Actually I mean it quite litteral, no metaphor. In short: Many of us have grown up in an information bubble because they grew up in the internet age and are quite unable to take any differing opinion, usually blocking people straight away, which is fuel for future conflict and bad for social cohesion.
Love it! You take a serious issue we are currently facing and make it into a witty poem.
