"권력에는 인격이 없다."

대한민국의 권력기관을 해부한 영화입니다. 검찰과 경찰, 그리고 그들을 자신의 세일즈맨으로 만드는 스폰서까지, 권력은 영화의 통해 스스로의 민낯을 속속들이 드러냅니다.

배우가 배우를 연기합니다. 계속되는 연쇄살인에 대해 검찰이 아무런 성과를 내놓지 못하자 직접 대통령이 나서게 되고, 유력한 용의자가 사망을 하자, 검찰과 경찰은 가짜 범인 즉 '배우'를 만들게 됩니다.

광역수사대 에이스 최철기는 이 사건을 담당하게 되고 점점 사건에 깊게 개입하게 되면서 스폰서를 통해 가짜 범인을 만들어 내게 됩니다. 시나리오를 쓰는 검찰, 연출을 시작하는 경찰, 그리고 그들을 돕는 스폰서의 얽히고 설킨 이야기는 이렇게 시작됩니다.

신세계를 감독했던 박훈정 감독이 시나리오를 썼습니다. 액션 영화의 거장 류승완 감독이 연출을 맡았고, 황정민, 류승범, 유혜진, 천호진, 마동석이 라인업을 이루고 있습니다.

스피디한 전개와 밀도있게 잘 짜여진 시나리오는 액션 영화의 달인인 감독의 연출력이 더해져 한편의 강열한 음악같은 영화를 만들어 냈습니다. 지독히도 악취나는 영화이지만 더러움 속에 숨어있는 현실이 너무나 리얼합니다.

권력은 인격이 없다, 라는 문구는 영화의 전반을 지배하고 있습니다. 암투와 모사, 그리고 치열한 두뇌 싸움까지. 권력은 그렇게 더러움을 자양분 삼아 스스로를 키워 나갑니다.

현실감 있는 배우들의 연기와 빠른 편집, 그리고 무엇보다 바로 옆에서 일어나는 듯한 사실적인 느낌이 영화의 가장 큰 매력입니다. 아직도 잊혀지지 않는 명대사와 명품 배우들의 명연기도 영화가 주는 또 다른 매력중에 하나입니다.

감독은 이 영화를 만든 이후 무척 맘고생이 심했다고 합니다. 상영후 영화가 만들어낼 파장이 어떠할지 알고 있었기 때문일 겁니다.
