"12살에 처음 시체를 보았습니다." 영화는 신문의 부고란을 읽으며 독백하는 고디의 나레이션으로 시작합니다.

영웅이 되고 싶습니다. 왜냐하면 아무도 인정해주지 않는 삶이 싫기 때문입니다. 4명의 친구들은 시체가 버려져 있다는 할로우우드 숲속으로 향하게 되는데요.

저마다의 슬픔을 지닌 아이들은 모험과 여행을 통해 우정과 사랑을 확인하게 되고 보다 큰 사람으로 성숙하게 됩니다.

성장 영화의 전형을 보여주는 이 영화는 리버 피닉스, 키퍼 서덜랜드 등 명배우들의 아역시절 모습이 담겨 있는 흔치 않은 영화입니다. 클래식이 된 아련한 추억의 영화입니다.

Ben E.King, 그룹 드리프터스의 리더 보컬이었습니다. Stand by me는 그가 1961년 가스펠 곡에 기반해 직접 만든 곡입니다. 킹의 부드럽고 깔끔한 테너 보컬은 이 곡을 명곡의 반열에 올려놓게 되는데요.

Stand by me 는 발표 당시 R&B 차트를 석권하고 팝 차트에서 4위를 하는 기염을 토하게 됩니다. 그리고 스티븐 킹이 쓴 'The Body' 라는 소설이 Stand by me 라는 영화로 만들어지면서 영화의 OST 로 다시 한번 대중들에게 알려지게 됩니다. 그리고 영화가 상영된 후 이 곡은 미국 톱10 차트에 다시 오르게 되고 영국에서는 정상에 오르는 성과를 만들어 냅니다.

어떤 음악 평론가가 음악의 가장 큰 효용중에 하나는 위로다, 라고 말한 것을 들은 적이 있습니다. 아무도 모르는 자신의 마음을 음악이 알 때가 많죠.
