말을 타고 달려보고 싶습니다. 다리를 절단해야 하는 고민은 하고 싶지 않습니다. 죽을지도 모르지만 한순간이라도 자유롭고 싶습니다.

모두가 숨죽인 대치 상황, 한 장교가 말을 몰고 적진을 향해 달려갑니다. 그리고 용기있는 자가 먼저 방아쇠를 당깁니다. 존 던버 중위는 그렇게 전쟁을 승리로 이끕니다.

늑대와 함께 춤을, 1990년 제작된 미국 영화로 작가 마이클 블레이크의 원작 소설을 스크린에 담은 영화입니다. 남북 시대와 서부 개척시대를 배경으로 미 육군 중위 존 던버가 인디언 부족 라코타족과 만나게 되며 그들의 일원이 되어가는 과정을 담았습니다.

광활한 서부를 배경으로 만든 대 서사시, 영화의 규모와 서사의 웅장함은 보는 이로 하여금 영화적인 재미를 한껏 만끽하게 해줍니다. 특히나 넓은 대지를 무대로 버팔로 사냥을 하는 장면은 이 영화의 백미입니다.

명배우 케빈 코스트너가 주연과 감독, 제작을 맡았으며 1990년도 아카데미 영화상중 7개 부분을 휩쓸었습니다. 그리고 골든 글러브 시상식에서 드라마 부분으로 작품상을 수상한 작품입니다.

광활함과 드넓은 대지는 사람을 유혹하는 자기만의 독특한 분위기를 지녔습니다. 그건 아마도 자연이 품고있는 주술적인 매력때문일 겁니다. 그리고 아름다운 풍광과 정경은 영혼을 이완시키는 주문이 됩니다.
