[사운드] The Girl From Ipanema

'새로운 물결' '새로운 트렌드' 보사노바의 포르투갈어 뜻입니다. 브라질 삼바음악에 모던재즈의 감각을 더해 발달한 보사노바는 브라질의 리우데자네이로에서부터 발달하게 됩니다.

안토니오 카를로스 조빔, 보사노바를 창시한 음악가입니다. 보사노바는 음악의 한 장르로서 많은 시간을 걸쳐 다양한 뮤지션을 통해 전승되지 않고 거의 이 한 인물에 의해 만들어지게 됩니다.

삼바 음악의 경쾌한 리듬을 차용했지만 타약기의 사용을 줄이고 화성적으로 단순하게 음악을 만들어냄으로써 흥겹고 느긋한 보사노바 특유의 분위기가 탄생하게 됩니다.

Jazz Samba, 찰리 버드와 스탄 게츠가 오직 브라질 음악으로만 함께 녹음한 이 음반은 1962년 발표된 이후 70주간 빌보드 차트에 머물게 되는 성과를 만들어 낼 정도로 인기를 얻게 됩니다.

이 후 게츠는 보사노바 음악을 영어로 바꾸어 부르는 시도를 하게 되고 그 첫 가수가 Astrud Gilberto였습니다. 전문 직업 가수가 아니었고 음정이 맞지 않게 노래하는 습관을 지진 그녀였지만 게츠는 그의 색소폰 연주속에 그녀의 무표정한 영어 보컬을 느긋하게 잘 녹여냈습니다.

Astrud Gilberto는 이 곡으로 명성을 얻게되고 게츠 또한 다시 한번 보사노바의 흥겹고 느긋한 멋을 전세계에 알리게 됩니다. 그리고 이 곡은 보사노바의 고전이 됩니다.

많은 가수들이 이 곡을 재해석해서 불렀으며 영화에서도 다양하게 활용되었습니다. 특히나 엘리베이터 씬에서는 거의 클리쉐로 쓰이는 음악입니다.

Stan Getz가 연주하고 Astrud Gilberto가 직접 노래하는 영상과 가수 이소라가 곡을 부르는 영상을 같이 올립니다.
