hello dear friends

the last days were very eventful, we were still hitchhiking and a few hours ago we arrived in the small town of coyhaique. the last leg of the journey with the thumb, from there we drive on with busses because of lack of time and we don’t feel like doing this more.

I would like to introduce you to a new thing, olli, a friend of my family, who is always diligent in reading the posts, has pointed out that you can easily lose track of all the places I travel. So I'm going to post such a map with the location of the first described day at the beginning of each post:

soo, let's go ...

22.10. - 28.10.

After a good sleep, we planned what we wanted to do with the rest of the days we still have here in Buenos Aires, before we leave for Patagonia.
In any case, there is something very beautiful, the tigre district, located in the north of the capital, a river delta crisscrossed by many rivers, in which many rich urbanites have a holiday home or something.
We thought it would be cool to spend a night there and to rent an air bnb. So I chose a few different places and together we decided which one is the best for us five, chris, nils, theo, lucila and me.

we will start tomorrow at noon.
In the evening francisco visited us and together we make delicious falafel, which we consume in the wrap. he is one of chris best friends here and we were at his theater show a few days ago.

This morning I spent some time again developing the font for the future.

Around 2 pm we set off from la plata to buenos aires to meet here at retiro main station with nils and the others. Another hour later, we reached Tigre and the harbor. Here we bought a ticket for the boat that would take us near the house we had booked.

with the setting sun we left the boat, from there it was again 10 minutes walking, before a young woman showed us the cabin.
Together we went to buy some things and then theo cooked delicious noodles for all of us.
After a few beers I was quite tired and exhausted, due to the long journey. however, the others suggested that we should make a hike to wake up again.

So we all wrapped ourselves in comfortable blankets and set off, without plan and goal. After about half an hour we got lost and when we took a break to think about how to get back home, we noticed the dogs that had been following us since we left.
We turned the tables and followed them. that brought us home in no time and the dogs did their job really well.
now we finished the last beer dormant and did not expect a very exhausting return journey.

I woke up well rested on one of the mattress of the small house and heard the rain drumming against the discs, that was a pity, because actually I was looking forward to make some sun-flooded photos in this beautiful place.

Since I had an appointment in the afternoon with a friend from la plata to have coffee, I did the dishes and packed my stuff nimble before I walked to the docks. I was there at about 13 o'clock, the others wanted to stay a little longer and take a later boat.
Arriving at the pier, I sat down and waited, when the first boat came, I was told in broken English that the next boat to tigre would leave only at 14.30. So I waited quite a while before the others arrived at the place and a short time later we boarded the boat together and about half an hour later we were back in Tigre at the station.
another 4 hour odyssey later we reached the apartment of chris. It was of course way too late to drink coffee, so I postponed it for tomorrow and set out on my way to a very wonderful restaurant / bar where I wanted to invite Celeste to dinner, as compensation for not having my portmonee last Friday.

I'll probably come across as a beer-drinking idler, but the pale ale and the tasty potato pancakes were really delicious.

After I woke up today, I made my way to the supermarket and bought some breakfast. Chris and I cleaned up the apartment and then I met with the postponed friend of yesterday in a café called "Flora"

for lunch, we then walked through one of the parks of la plata and chilled a little in the hammock. In the early evening I arrived again in the apartment of chris and we prepared dinner together. Two girls, whom he had met via couchsurfing, wanted to come over for dinner today and so we cooked some delicious falafel again.

incidentally, we packed our things together and prepared mentally for departure to Patagonia. tomorrow should start our big trip ...

Today our journey south finally starts, I woke up early in the morning and then packed all the things, that i had flying around in Chris room the last days. by train we drove into the city and then the subway took us to the station Jose Maria Moreno, where we met nils and after we had walked a few blocks to the highway, we started to put out the thumb.

After a short wait, a man stopped us and kindly took us to the intersection just before the airport.
with six different people and cars, we reached azul in breaking darkness, a small town in the south of buenos aires.

We were on the right track, about 300 km closer to our destination, but still in unimaginable distance, about 2600 km further south: ushuaia, the southernmost city of the earth and the proverbial end of the world.
The last driver took us to a small hotel in the center of Azul, where we saddled off and then looked for a little beer in an Irish pub on the other side of the street.

We awoke early on Saturday morning in Azul. after a small breakfast with café and medio luna, we called a taxi that brought us for about 3 euros to the roundabout outside the city. While we waited thumb-stretching along the road, we drank a lot of mate and answered each other's questions from a little book by Chris.

in the end, we waited half an eternity before a man stopped for us and took us about four hours to bahia blanca. i was able to talk to him very well in spanish, we talked a lot about politics and his life in argentina.
he had visited a friend of his near azul. we got out of his car in front of the city at a roundabout.

We walked to a gas station which was on the other side of the roundabout and spoke briefly with the owner during the shopping, who then offered us to take us to the other side of the city.
Here we waited until it was dark and unfortunately were not taken further. At around 10 pm we took a taxi to the bus station and booked a bus to take us to Puerto Madryn at night. So we save the night and then continue tomorrow from there.

early in the morning we passed the border of the provinces of rio negro to chubut, here is always controlled, I had heard that this is very necessary, since in the south of argentina the common fruit fly does not exist yet. To keep it that way, fruit and vegetables are checked at this border and a dog sniffs off the baggage. We used this early break to take another picture.

Around 11 o'clock we reached the bus station in Puerto Madryn, a small town on the coast, with peninsula valdes. However, we drove directly with a bus to the autopista 3 and got picked up there after a short time from a man who offered us a ride to the next village.
So we threw our backpacks on the back of the pickup and climbed behind. finally ride back, pure freedom ...

When we arrived in Trelew, it started to rain heavily and we searched for shelter in a bus stop until we took a bus to the other start site and parked in front of a gas station. rain again.

a little exhausted and disillusioned, we were then overjoyed to find an older man who drove us in his comfortable car to rada tilly. this is a village near commodro rivadavia and pretty much half of the way to ushuaia.

i talked again during the whole trip with the man and when we arrived we quickly found a nice little hostel that had a large kitchen and hot showers and comfortable beds to offer.
The driver had also recommended a cerveceria, which we visited in the evening and in connection we cooked a large portion of delicious noodles, before we snuggled snuggled in the blankets.

and here we are again at the end of the story beloved readers. hopefully i can report more as soon as we reach bariloche.

love
pauli
