hello dear friends

Today I am reporting to you from lima, I have accidentally booked the flight to iquitos not today but for Tuesday, but that is not a problem, only that we got up very early to find out that we still have three days in lima. classic case of apathy. Have fun reading the following Bolivian adventures.

We awoke very sleepy and at half past four we were in our old hostel. Ross opened the door for us, he is our new travel companion. he has to be in lima about the same time as lea and has to take the so-called gringo route, as we do. The bus to the border to Bolivia drove four hours.

Breakfast between departure from Chile and entry to Bolivia. We then switched from the bus to a 4x4 jeep. In our group are 4 other people and all speak German, except for Ross and the driver.

The family of these three days. Rostislav (Czech Republic), Jakob (Austria), Paul, Andi + Nadine (Munich).

Cañapa Lake

Our food next to Hedionda Lake.

Laguna Negra at 4000m altitude.

During the whole tour we chewed coca for the height (we were up to 4125m) and talked a lot. The group is great. On the way to the accommodation we saw super cute llamas.

We arrived in the village of Villa Mar to spend the night there. Everyone was afraid of cold, because the afternoon was already cold, the night would surely freeze us.
They gave us warm tea and me and Ross bought wine for dinner. There was soup and spaghetti. for dessert there was a half sweet peach. They no longer gave us hot water for the tea until lea went personally to the kitchen. We made coca tea while playing cards. then we all went to bed and in our room stayed lea, Jacob and me. After much chitchat we went to sleep in scarves and sweaters.

We had a good breakfast and we left again.

The World Cup

the so-called lost Italian island, where we saw Viscachas.

Laguna vinto with flamingos behind.

Mysterious Lagoon, I'm on the top right.

The Anaconda Canyon.

And finally, after these stops, we went to eat. The food was pretty good, they even had meat, but it was not enough.

We stopped at a small piece of salt desert, which was brown because of the snow that had fallen during the last days. Not very spectacular. From there we went to the city San Juan to the salt hostel. but before that I was in a tiny quinoa museum. It is the main crop here in the highlands.

In the hotel we could all enjoy a shower with hot water and then there was tea with biscuits. later came the dinner.

There was chicken leg with potatoes, there was enough to eat, there was also red wine. We already had a bottle of yesterday for dinner today, but we drank both.
However, you have to know, the alcohol here in the mountains rather on the head and you get from red wine quickly headache.
After dinner we talked a lot. mainly about andi and nadine's acquaintance, they got to know each other via tinder. Tomorrow we get up at five o'clock to see the sunrise in the salt sea.

!

We got up at five in the morning and drove to the Salar de Uyuni to see the sunrise. very spectacular, one of the most beautiful sunrises i have seen. surreal.

After a walk around the cactus island Incahuasi went for breakfast.

afterwards we made the typical photo shoot here.

This is the salt hotel around which the 2016 Dakar race took place.

When we arrived in the next town after leaving the Salar, we discovered that the couple's backpack was missing. they thought it might have been stolen, but when we drove back a bit where they both took a picture, we found it where the next group had almost packed it. So we found her in time.
the next stop was the Uyuni Train Cemetery.

We ate great food in a Uyuni restaurant outside the city. Rosti, lea and I bought the bus tickets for the same night and took a trip through the city. it's the contrast, to the cities in chile that blew me away first. everything half finished and built so raw.

We have eaten with the same group of these three days, the others stay here tonight. We met at the pizzeria for a great dinner. We said goodbye to the three who stayed and went to the bus. When we got on the bus, lea recognized another from the tour to Uyuni. This world here, so rather the gringo trail is a two-lane road and you meet again and again.

We arrived at Sucre at five o'clock in the morning, after the bus freezing us. We took a taxi to the hostel and since we arrived so early we were in the dining room / lounge on pillows and sleeping until eight in the morning. We had breakfast directly at Plaza 25 de Mayo. When we returned to the hostel, we finally could take a shower and change clothes. We put all the dirty clothes in a bag to take them to the laundry. On the street we meet our French friends from yesterday. When we went to the post office to send postcards, they told us that they did not have any stamps for a week, welcome to Bolivia.

The zebras helping to cross the road.

Tomorrow we will pick up the clothes, which weigh about seven kilos and mainly from lea and
Rosty were.

We ate in a cafeteria and watched a game there. Rosty loves football and it's hard to focus on something else during the game. The food here in Bolivia is terribly cheap. For lunch we paid about $ 8 for three, three courses with drink. With more people from the hostel we went to buy some food for a barbecue. We had a great afternoon with beer and with the people who slept at the hostel, Stefan and Alex from the UK, Ian from France, later the receptionist informed us that the owner did not bring any coal. I tried to cheer the grill together with ian, but it took forever to get the coal burning. By then Ros and Lea had gone to buy beer, coal, and schnapps. We did some grogs, it was cold outside and all the warm clothes were in the wash. But the atmosphere was great, everyone chatted until late at night.

I ate the leftovers of the grilled today, not very rich. Then we, Ross, Lea, Stefan and I searched for a taxi because today we wanted to the chalk time park on the edge of the city. here it should be dinospuren to see. We started at around eleven and were not disappointed.

The prints were discovered eighty years ago by a neighboring cement factory. It is the largest coherent wall with footprints in the world.

After lunch, we went shopping, got the clothes and I went to the market. for the dinner we made potato pancakes with ham and cheese and applesauce. Before we sat in the courtyard again blatantly. Here in the hostel we are like a big family. lea spoke a lot to the Spaniards, Ros talked to the Israelis, and I cooked with the French, who also made delicious tortillas. After dinner, we all got together and started the drinking games. However, it got boring relatively quickly and we soon went to sleep.

today was our last day in sucre. We packed our bags at the hostel to check out and left the backpacks in the closet to drive to the bus station and pick up the tickets. lea and I went for a walk in the city, actually we wanted to look at the hat museum, but unfortunately that had closed.

After much chilling in the hostel we went with four of us with Stefan to a Chinese next door and we saw the game Argentina 0-Croatia 3. Ross was relatively disillusioned, he is argentina fan, been. later we hiked to the viewpoint and met in La Recoleta to see the sunset.

We then had a beer in the hostel, prepared the things, said goodbye to Stefan and took a taxi with Sarah. She is going to Uyuni today. Paula and Álex will take another bus to La Paz at eight o'clock. We will see them when we arrive. we booked cama places. this means you can tilt the seat by 160 degrees and lie relaxed and fall asleep. It was our first ride with cama-sit (cama = bed), usually the much more expensive than the semi-cama, so half-bed. But if you pay $ 10 or $ 8 for a 12-hour bus ride, it hardly makes a difference for us. but we slept royally and it was not too cold at night.

at seven o'clock we arrived in La Paz. We had breakfast at the train station while watching the game Brazil 2 - Costa Rica 0.
On the way to the hostel we found Alex and Paula, on the street, they were also on their way to accommodation. Today we spent our tour for tomorrow to book and to stroll through the city.

in the evening we wanted to see the sunset from the highest point of the city, el alto, unfortunately, the cable car already drawn on our map was not finished yet. That's why we arrived too late, but the view was still beautiful.

At 4095m altitude.

We ate at a kfc-moderate chicken-fast food chain and returned to the hostel, where we organize for tomorrow.
It goes on to the death-road, the most dangerous street in the world and we have found an agency that offers downhill tours by bike. Knowing how to get up early tomorrow, we joined our bed early and tired.

that was it for the next few days. due to some internet shortages I am already in iquitos, i am looking forward to soon be happy with stories from peru.
props go to my dearest lea, who took the pictures and who i miss here already.

love
Pauli
