Entry 2

Months of monotony had worn her down. Robotic and calculated, every day had become a repeat of the previous, meaningless one.

Pulling into the parking lot of the grocery store, she sat for a spell with the engine running. Buying, cooking, and eating food was pointless, but she had fallen into a repetitive schedule of things to keep her occupied. The meals were flavorless and an unnecessary means of sustenance for her unique body. They still had all the flavor they ever had, but it was as if her tastebuds couldn't make the effort to distinguish tastes anymore. The delight in sharing a meal made in love had been lost.

With the car running and the heat streaming across her legs, her heart contracted in anguish, as she could almost imagine the warmth of summer, just months ago when everything had held such promise. Closing her eyes, she leaned back against the headrest. Why open her eyes? What was there to see? She had been registered to begin classes in University last semester, but she never showed up to one class. She couldn't understand the point of anything.

Her despair turned quickly to anger as she found herself speeding through the streets in a particular direction. It was only a house, but she wanted to eliminate it - burn it to the ground, if she could. She suddenly recalled the wicked satisfaction of ripping him apart one cell at a time, and a bloodthirsty craving washed over her to stand in the ashes of the home where he had tortured and drained Bryd. Not one beam would remain standing. If it was the last thing she did in this world, so be it.

The tires squealed as she jerked the steering wheel to the right, pulling up onto the curb directly in front of his house. She warred with her emotions, feeling them boil and splatter, sizzling in the heat of her anger. She hesitated a moment, remembering that this was not her world. She couldn't just burn the house down with her mind. She blinked. Or could she?

Hadn't there been a connection from her world to this one? Hadn't she and Bryd ripped a tear between the fabric of the two dimensions? And what about him? He had been able to work his evil here without any restrictions. Maybe this world wasn't as separated from her gifts as she thought. After all, she had felt Bryd and even him in this world. Thoughts began to bombard her about the posibilities. She had fueled Bryd when he had been draining him; Aria had been completely absorbed - why hadn't she seen it before? She began to concentrate on the door. Her thoughts began to swirl in a tight circle, like a funnel cloud forming a tornado. Her mind focused her thoughts like a laser beam onto the door. Images and concepts like heat, friction, flame, smoke, fire, explosion cycled... and then everything was silent, as if a backdraft had sucked every ounce of heat from her essence, like a vacuum.

With an open mouth and an incredulous gaze, she could only stare at the figure who had just opened the front door. It was impossible, yet, there he was. Unaffected. Unshaken. Bold as he dared and twice as calm. She got out of the car without thinking and stalked towards him, determined to finish this once and for all. He looked up and smiled.
