There are an increasing number of writing contests here on Steemit and some have excellent prizes that are well worth going after. The problem I was having was finding them in the sea of new posts in the contest tag. You might have been having the same problem.

Now you can simply drop by my blog each day to see what writing contests are going on across Steemit. I really do hope you find it useful.

This is an ongoing post that will be updated each day, with new contests added and expired contests removed. If you’re interested in writing contests, this daily post can be your one-stop-shop to keep updated on what’s new, and what needs to be submitted today.

What’s new in today’s list:

The first new item in today’s list isn’t a writing contest, but rather a contest to give away some books. So, if you’re a reader head on over to Win a copy of The Anchor is the Key to enter for a chance to win two real physical books.

The Fact to Fiction Writing Contest
Deadline: March 20, 2018 Note: The contest will actually open for submissions on March 14, so look for that post to make your story submission.
Description: Write a fiction story based on the following prompt: “The nearest star to us is 4.25 lightyears away, that's why wishes take at least 9 years to come true.”
Prize: The winner will receive 10 STEEM plus the payout of this post. Two runners-up will each receive 5 STEEM.

Six-word story contest #2
Deadline: 10:00 GMT/UTC March 8, 2018
Description: Write a story on any topic in just 6 words.
Prize: Winner – 1/3 of the SBD gained from the contest post. 2nd and 3rd place – 1/6 each of the SBD gained from the contest post.

Description: This is related to the Nth Story Game being developed, and you will need to familiarize yourself with that project first. You can do so here. Then, imagine the gameplay and write a short story about it.

@markrmorrisjr has a contest that requires little effort on your part, but should be great fun for everyone involved. Each day, he'll put up a post with some writing prompts, between 5 and 10, some written, some images. If you'd like to see him write one of them, vote for it in the comments. The prompt with the most votes will be his story inspiration! He will write a story, from scratch, of at least 500 words, and base it on the prompt! Then he’ll choose one lucky person who chose the winning prompt as the winner of the contest and they get 25% of the SBD from the story post. He’s had stories pay out over 700 SBD in the past! He plans on doing this every day until he reaches 5,000 followers, so it could go on for several weeks. Here’s the “contest”
