The Writers' Block Poetry Contest #4 Results and Contest #5

The Writers’ Block Poetry Contest (#twbpoetrycontest) took a little longer choosing the WINNERS from the 4th week’s contest due to some mid-winter busy-ness, but the results are finally in. Thank you for being patient with us. We’re so happy that so many people keep submitting to the contest each week, and the entries are always inspiring :)

Especially because of how busy we’ve all been this week, let’s take a moment to appreciate our five judges, as without them, this contest would not be possible:

The Writers’ Block Poetry Contest: Week 5

 
WRITING PROMPT

Write a poem in two sections about two completely different things. Have the title link both items somehow.

For example, you might write one section about the way being in the ocean makes you feel and another section about your insomnia. Or you might write one section about losing a loved one and another section about falling in love unexpectedly. Or you might write one section about how watermelon makes you think of your sister and another section about wishing you were a bird.

These titles might respectively be:

Salty Waves of Sleeplessness
Between Grief and Lust
In the Summer of Watermelon and Sparrows

These are meant to serve just as example so you get the idea of how to go about crafting your poem for this prompt. Remember to format your poem into two sections (which can be separated by things like numbers, asterisks, or anything else of your choosing). There are no length requirements or restrictions; the sections can be as long or short as you like.

• Original work only. All plagiarized entries will be disqualified.
• Unless designated by the prompt, the structure of the poem can be anything you like. Free verse, rhymed, and prose poetry are all 100% welcome.
• One entry per person, per week.
• Post your poem to your own blog to enter. The title of your post should be [the title of your poem - Writers Block Poetry Contest Week 5].
• Tag your entry with #twbpoetrycontest
• Post a link to your poem in the replies to this post.
• This contest runs until 23:59 UTC / GMT March 4th.
• The winner will receive 15 SBD. Second place will win 10 SBD and third will receive 7 SBD.
