Finish the sentence - earn SBI shares and upvotes!.png

Dear friends, thanks to you all for participating to day #1! It was great fun and you have exceeded yourself! I admired your vivid creativity which outmatched my first part of the freewrite.

Here is how this constest works:

1. I write an unfinished fiction story/freewrite

2. You finish it with a comment in the comment section (relax..no long stuff needed!)

3. I will donate 1 @steembasicincome share to one freewriter with the most interesting, fun, original, crazy ending (I'm the unquestionable judge. Well, technically not me.. the bananafish voices within my head are).

It's super simple and I hope we'll have loads of fun together! Basically you comment, as you always did, just this time you can be rewarded with a SBI share!
Nothing is mandatory here..Just enjoy and prepare for a trip into my delirious fiction world!

Too much writing! Here's the story based on @mariannewest today's prompt "solitude":

When he slowly opened his eyes, around him the bog's poisonous air had given way to a sparkling and pleasant wind. The young Rentao felt that everything in him was reborn, from the alveoli of his lungs, to his olive skin shining again, to every tortured fiber of his nervous muscles.
Since he knew how to read the stars as much as the footprints of the gazelles, it was not difficult for him to realise that he was sitting on the top of the pinnacle blessed by the Spirit of the West. His freshly regained breath was immediately taken from the spectacular view of the delta of the sacred river, washed by the light of Araoth, the major moon.

Was this supposed to be the third ritual? The most terrible trial of all?
He had survived the Glass Forest and his ghosts; he had left demons feed on his spiritual flesh so that he could capture them. He couldn't really grasp in his mind how this vibrant and peaceful place had to be a much more formidable test than the previous ones.

The days flowed one after the other. In his heart, that immense solitude made the beauty of living on the top of the pinnacle even more poignant. From the grooves of the rock he could drink at will and the cosmic breathing technique, handed down from his father, allowed him to receive nutrients even just by licking the basalt from time to time.

Rentao smiled thinking that he would soon be reunited with his family and finally would be welcomed to be part of the Guardians of Light.

One day, at dawn, while Rentao was meditating and contemplating the sunrise that gilded the beautiful landscape, a single chirp interrupted his concentration.

A small finch deposited a tiny roll of rice paper on the rock, and with a flutter of wings flew into the clear sky.

The roll showed the following words:

"Congratulations, young Rentao! You can join your family in Zaoyin Yanwu, the City of Noisy Smoke, where you will be the local Guardian of Light against the terrible and overwhelming forces of darkness, until death takes you.
Will you accept this task, abandoning this magnificent pinnacle forever?
The answer to this call is your third test!"

Interesting! He's been sent to the sh*thole place that no other Guardian wants to preside.. you broke the poetry of this freewrite in an unexpected, fun, smart and original way 👍😁

On the evening of the sleepless moon, I was in a deep state of meditation when I sensed that I was no longer alone. Figures began to step out from the shadows of my inner self. There was me, the Child, scared and trembling. Beside me the Child, came my Poetic self, full of harmonious words. Others came, each bore a likeness of myself and each with their own name. There was Wisdom, Valor, and Charity. Many came and I recognized them all, and all were me. Then I heard laughter, and a stout figure kicked dust on one that kneeled in prayer. It was Pride standing tall and stalwart mocking my Humble self. I moved in anger to help my Humble and Prayerful self, but a hand held me back, it was Self-Control that bade me stop. Suddenly out of the sky flew Righteousness and indignation with sabers of light drawn, and they slew Pride where he stood.

And so ended my quest, I now knew that I was never alone, and I had conquered my greatest enemy.

First of all I liked a lot your choice of a narration in first person. Besides, your story represents the many faces of someone's inner world.. stimulating perspective! Thanks Deacon for being onboard my friend 👍

Here is my reply:

Rentao realized very quickly what the third and final quest was. A beautiful lady of the sacred river rose towards him with arms upheld. She offered what any man wanted more than all else - removal from this solitude and company till the end of time. He had regenerated into his prime and every inch of his being cried out to join her, to be in her company forever. There was only one thing that stopped him: the thought of once again being with his family. It was the only thing that held him in the solitude that had become his greatest trial and curse.
Would he make it through till the end - only time would tell...

Tempting!! I liked the final suspension.. I donnow if his training prepared him for this 😉 Thanks for your contribution!

Every day was the same on the surface. The same framework of events: he rose at daybreak, drank cold, clear water from the spring, then climbed to the high rock above his campsite to practice cosmic breathing technique, and to give the promptings of his inner world a chance to bubble up to consciousness. Then a long hike, through the flowering canyons, down to the warm, welcoming meadows or up, up to the snow line, to the barren heights. Then home to a fire and evening prayer. Then bed.

Every day was the same on the surface, but marvelously eventful in the details: finding a new patch of berry brambles. Observing the playful activity of beringhi along the creeks. Listening to the curious song of a bird he had seen before but didn't know the name of. Finding a new melody, himself, on his flute... these events became enormously significant and satisfying, each one absorbing his attention in the moment. And when the moment passed, there was always another fresh, interesting experience to engage him. He woke every morning with a child's excitement, an uninhibited eagerness to see what this new day would bring. And always, that feeling of joy in his chest: soon, he would be with his family. Soon he would be a guardian.

But there was time. No need to rush. This place was so beautiful.

It would be years before he realized what the challenge actually was.

This is truly cool. I would exasperate it and make him become a prisoner of beauty forever. Bravo!

Hey thanks man! I loved the beginning, it definitely inspired me to come up with my own ending. I'm going to follow these and continue to contribute, awesome writing and contest :)

I saw people taking out unexpected incredibly creative things, I'm happy because this wants to be a way to push us out from the ordinary and share wealth. Your imagination is already one of the finest i found here have to say. Thanks for your support my friend 👍

Aw thanks! Love working with your material, looking forward to doing more :)

On a fateful evening, wondering what the test would require of him, the youngster slept quite earlier, with gulps of saliva from his wide open mouth. Suddenly a dangerous noice echoed through his sleeping ears, he woke up immediately picking up his spirirual wand, quoting the super celestial verses of the book of light and searching around the dark room with his eyesballs running to and fro just to find he is attacking a harmless little fart of his,smelling all through the tent. Could this be the test he wondered, suddenly a pen a paper flew through the entrance of his tent, with his candles lighting themselves, and the instruction written was this;

IMG_20180228_035717_112.jpg

He decided he won't write a thing. Confused of what happened next he woke up in the morning in his room he had just returned to his family, and they lived happily ever after

The harmless fart was fun 😅 I loved your posting the scroll with the questions and the dilemma he had to face!

Rentao was scanning the horizon for any signs of life, he wasn't ready to be part of the Guardians of Light. He was sent away, because all the men and boys had died. All the women crying was too much for Rentao to comprehend. He was but a boy himself. The top of the pinnacle was the safest place for him, until he saw the signal to return. Once he returned, it would be his duty to start replenishing the tribe with babies. If he doesn't return, they all die. Finally, red smoke filled the air, and this was his sign to return home. Rentao took in one deep breath, looked towards the sky, exhaled, stepped to the right, and fell down the pinnacle, to his death.

But.. he dies!! He had to procreate an amount of kids! I really didn't expect this Bruni 😉 thanks for playing!

It's your fault, you know I can't do Fiction. 😂

😂😂😂 looks the contrary to me, It was super fun

@moneyinfant has added your contest to the list Steemit Writing Contests: Issue #33. The list is updated on a daily basis and your contest will remain on the list until its expiration - there's nothing you need to do.

The list was created to save writers the excessive amount of time spent searching through the #contest tag for writing contests. Now they can just come to the list each day, see new contests and use their time doing what they love - writing.

If you'd like to help spread the word about the Steemit Writing Contest List I'd really appreciate a resteem, but it certainly isn't necessary. The project is simply meant to help writers save time and contest creators attract more contestants.

P.S. If you know of any contests I've missed I'd love to hear about them. Thanks!

Thank you for adding my contest! Give some attention to the freewriter community.. it's worth it 😉👍

It's my pleasure. I want to get the right contests in front of the right writers. Right? :D

Righteously right! 👍
