Steemit Poets United - Poetry Contest #2

Yesterday, the winners of the first contest were announced (check results).

Before starting off this week's context, I would like to ramble a bit, for those who are interested on the source of the prizepool. Feel free to skip ahead to the PRIZES and RULES sections.

It is important to note that this prize money comes from our wallets. We kindly request that you upvote and resteem this post. Sharing the word helps us earn more payouts, with ensures that we have enough SBD to cover the prizepool. For last week's contest (as a first-time bonus), I had thrown in 5SBD and @angelveselinov had donated 6SBD.

Obviously, we do not expect the payout to match the prizepool; however I had to lower the prizepool for now, as my posts do not get consistent high payouts to assure a high prizepool. In case the payout exceeds the prizepool, the remainder will be added to that week's prizepool.Either way, I believe that more than the prize, the encouragement and exposure are rewarding as well.

If anyone would like to donate to the prizepool to be added, transfer SBD to my wallet with the memo: SPU Contest 2 Prizepool. You could also invest in next week's prizepool, with the memo: SPU Contest 3 Prizepool, and you will get mentioned in the contest announcement (like the awesome @walkingkeys).

Prizes

Thank you, @walkingkeys, for donating 1SBD to help us with the prizepool!

Contest: Re-Creation!

For this week's contest, the task is straightforward. Pick a poem that you wrote (preferably, one that you posted on Steemit). Then, you have to write another poem which is either a reconstruction of that same poem, or taking inspiration from the poem you chose.

The new poem has to be considerably different - it needs to show that you have worked on it and not wrote the same poem down. This is a great chance to either do justice to an older poem, or to retell us the story/message in another form.

Rules

  • Your poem has to be a rewrite or inspired by a poem that you wrote.
  • No restrictions on length or rhyming. Feel free - use your freedom wisely.
  • The post's title has to be "SPU Poetry Contest #2: POEM TITLE". Obviously, replace POEM TITLE with your poem's actual title.
  • In the post, provide a link to the poem you chose (before or after the poem). In case the previous poem is not available online, you would have to write it as well.
  • Use poetsunited as the FIRST tag.
  • Upvote this post. Resteem is optional, but appreciated.
  • Copy the link to your poem, and post it on the comments below.

Deadline for entries are before this post's payout (On Tuesday, 6th March). Once this post has paidout, no more entries will be accepted. We will do our best to announce winners and the following contest as quickly as possible.

You must respect Steemit rules! No plaigarism allowed. If you are going to use photos or pictures on your post, make sure that you are allowed to use them, and to source the content. Any breaking of rules will be notified and the entry will not be accepted.

Feel free to ask any queries in the comments. I will do my best to respond in a timely manner.

Greetings all you beautiful poet type persons! Here is my entry for this week, a short poem called "Dislocation" inspired by my earlier poem "Welcome" (link provided in post).

I have a feeling I may be drawn back to do some more editing though, so kindly give me like 24 hours before reading it ;)

sure thing. Reply back when it's finalised :)

This post has received a 0.11 % upvote from @drotto thanks to: @banjo.

I look forward to this contest every week... Hopefully this week I strike gold...

Who knows! Maybe you strike diamond :D

Your entry has been approved. As a formatting tip, in general, it would be much better if you do not post too many photos within a poem. It can 'break' the reading flow, which is not something you want in poetry. Let the words paint the picture.

P.S. I will still have to read the poem

Thank you for participating! Your entry has been approved :)

@moneyinfant has added your contest to the list Steemit Writing Contests: Issue #33. The list is updated on a daily basis and your contest will remain on the list until its expiration - there's nothing you need to do.

The list was created to save writers the excessive amount of time spent searching through the #contest tag for writing contests. Now they can just come to the list each day, see new contests and use their time doing what they love - writing.

If you'd like to help spread the word about the Steemit Writing Contest List I'd really appreciate a resteem, but it certainly isn't necessary. The project is simply meant to help writers save time and contest creators attract more contestants.

P.S. If you know of any contests I've missed I'd love to hear about them. Thanks!
