Summer is coming. The Beach-Bods are preparing their sculpted bodies to showcase them while walking on the shore under the hit of the sun wearing only their swimming trunks and bikinis. 🏊👙

So, this art aims to inspire those people who would like to get those ripped abs, toned muscles to look good in the summer. Make summer even hotter! 🌶🌤🌞

If you dont have abs and toned muscles like me but would love to go to the beach and just have fun... GO. Simply, the beach is not only for them.

I used the following to create this drawing:

  1. Visual Reference
  2. Water Colour Paper
  3. Staedler 8B graphite Pencil

  • Usually, I start my drawing looking for a visual reference anywhere. This is the beauty of the internet for me, it provides a vast amount of visual reference. I also do this because I am still practicing my craft since I do not have a formal training in drawing and arts. After finding a good visual reference, I put it in my laptop use filters. In this case, since I am doing a Graphite-art, I used a black and white filter. This helps a lot in defining your subject in drawing.

  • Next, I outline my subject using very fine sketch lines for easy erasing if adjusting needs to be done in the drawing. It is good to use H grade pencils for light lines. But I used 2B pencil to do this to have a bolder line and a more visible line. However, I made sure that I was not putting pressure while sketching the outlines.

  • Then, I start on the top. Before I start drawing, I plan where to start and where to end. The direction of the process is very important especially when working with graphite and charcoal pencils to avoid smudging and making your artwork dirty.

  • Since I am a right-handed person, I begin defining my drawings on the top-left part of the drawing. Here, I have drawn the head and the right shoulder including the arms of my subject.

  • For detailing, I usually zoom the reference for maximum view of the subject. That's another advantage when using still images as drawing reference. Back in the drawing, I added details on it and worked on the mid-section which is the chest and started working on the left arm of the subject.

  • Now, this is I guess the most important part in drawing a Beach-Body Man - the drawing of the abdominal muscles. Here, I look closely in my reference "how dark and how light the part of the body" is to achieve a more realistic view of the drawing.

Finally, I am down to the lower part of the drawing - the underwear and the legs. Basically, the steps that I have taken at the beginning, is repeatedly done when I was working on the lower part of the drawing. Like any craft and skill, it only takes perseverance, passion and dedication to create something.

I think you have a good grasp of the human anatomy and physiology to be able to draw like that.

Thank you. Constant practice really helps.
