OPERATION TRANSLATION - UPDATE AND REPORT
It has been just over two weeks since I made the post notifying all users that all of my posts are now available for translation and posting. Anyone who wants to translate one of my posts is free to do so, and they can even post the translation themselves and keep the entire payout if they want.
In fact, a few of the translations of my posts did even better that the original English post.
How awesome is that for the translators?
When I made my original Translation Opportunity post the concept went over pretty well. Besides getting the ball rolling on building up the international steemit community by making English posts available in other languages and adding more content in other languages, the initiative also caught the eye of one @stellabelle.
Not only did she resteem my post, she made her own post linked here and made the same offer that I did. (She even gave me the SBD payout from that post for "using my idea.") Now, all her posts include this banner at the bottom:

Of all the users on steemit, @traducciones has probably lead to the success of Operation Translation more than anyone. Not only has @traducciones been translating posts from @papa-pepper, @stella-belle, and @merej99 after we offered that opportunity, @traducciones has been exposing others to the idea and offering to translate if the authors agree.
Recently, a conversation was initiated with this request to @englishtchrivy:
"Excellent follow-up article, @englishtchrivy! Would you consider joining @papa-pepper on the Operation Translations for this article?
It would mean Spanish language readers would have also a follow-up reading for CUANDO LO INCREIBLE SE TORNA IRRELEVANTE - Lamentando la Obvia Desconexion de las Civilizaciones Modernas y Probablemente Perdiendo $324.000"
Since @traducciones had already translated the post of mine that had inspired the post from @englishtchrivy, @traducciones thought that offering that post as well to the Spanish speaking community would be a great blessing.
Thankfully, @englishtchrivy agreed, and now both posts are available in Spanish. Here are all four posts:

To have so many be taking the time to translate my posts is even more incredible!
However, to think of the long-term impact that this initiative will have on steemit is even more encouraging.
Obviously, as long as languages vary, they will be an obstacle to overcome. With initiatives like this, we can work together to remove the language barrier and bless those who do not speak our native tongue. In order for steemit to really be all that it can be, we must be able to reach as many people as possible, and this is one way to help do that.
Basically, the "rules" of Operation Translation are as follows:
• Send me a reply on which article you would like to translate.
• Tell me what language you want to translate it into.
• You can use any or all of the original images from my post.
• Please link my original “English Version” article at the end of your post.
• Make it clear in your title or opening paragraph that your post is a translation of one of my articles.
• Once the translated post is made, send me a comment or private message with the link.
Simply put, I am willing to allow any user the permission to translate any of my articles into another language and post the translated article themselves.
If you choose to translate one, whatever STEEM, Steem Power, or SBD that the translated articles generate will be yours to keep.
If those guidelines are ones that you are comfortable with, why not join Operation Translation?
There may not be a payout in it for you, but your posts stop earning after a month anyway, it'll be free publicity for you, and it is a great opportunity to build up the community.
These great Operation Translation logos were created by @oecp85. He came up with the English version, and then after a suggestion from @anotherjoe, he also made Spanish, Italian, and French versions.
@oecp85 describes himself as "a friendly guy always willing to collaborate with others in any way I can to keep people motivated and they never give up," and I certainly agree.
If you would like to join in on the effort as an author, either do an official post on joining Operation Translation or simply begin to include the Operation Translation logo of your choice at the end of your posts. Logo link here.
If you are able to translate posts, get in contact with authors who are a part of Operation Translation, or ask authors if they allow translations of their posts and, if so, what the terms and conditions are.
Together, we can build the international steemit community.
Obviously, I have included a lot of links, but they may not even be exhaustive. If this is the kind of project that you would like to support, please consider following those links and upvoting the authors and translators involved, and leave some encouraging replies showing your support too. Also consider following those active in translating and giving them continual support for their efforts. If we invest in this initiative, the long-term benefits could be huge.
In closing I would like to give a big thank you to @felixxx, @dresden, and @xanoxt for indirectly getting me thinking about translations and how to overcome the language barrier.

Also you are helping us and promoting our posts and that is helping us a lot as another language that haven't been read until now." The next translation post from @nelyp is set to be posted in the next 24 hours, so keep your eyes open for that one.
@traducciones told me, "I want to thank your for this simple but at the same time superlative idea, because it contributes to erase language barriers between steemian sub-communities avoiding the risk or at least invalidating arguments that favor separatist experiments like Golos. Every language on earth (and maybe alien as well) should have a place on steemit!"

Yeah, @traducciones sure went full steem ahead with this one.
Great Idea with a great efford behind! It would also be very usefull to translate spanish posts into english. That would give even more visibility to spanish authors. It would be great to see some of this amazing original posts in spanish beeing translated by some english native translators.
Yeah, English is my default setting, so it is from that viewpoint that I operate, but the goal is to have any and all languages being translated into other languages.
Perhaps if some Spanish authors made some posts about joining in and began to add the Spanish Operation Translation logo at the end of their posts some translators would step forward.
Perhaps @traducciones or @nelyp would be interested.

Yeah, translating, like making a post, can be a lot of work.
When the hoped for payout doesn't come......
it can get discouraging.
