Open Mic Night Wk 19 Entry: The Flute Of Fools - Part 3 (Original Song)

in #openmic7 years ago (edited)

Here is Part 3, the final installment as promised. Please enjoy the musical ride and let me know what you guys think. Best of luck to everyone else's entries. PS: Please excuse some parts, I am still recovering from a virus so my singing/breathing isn't at full capacity, but that can't stop me from performing.

Full Song Lyrics and Due Credits provided below.

Oh, also, if any of you know who the Unknown Artist is in the intro, please let me know. I tried searching using the song lyrics but no luck yet in verifying who was singing in the sample being used in this instrumental beat. Thanks in advance.

Song's Due Credits

Full Song Lyrics

Unknown Artist
Singing Intro:
The times that it hurts me
When I think of what a fool I've been
To miss the chances I've seen
I was in the (inaudible word)…

Verbal D
Chorus:
Playing on the flute of fools
I made a song for my demise
I didn't know what I should I do
But Christ then opened my eyes
With a new song amazing

He saved my life

(I feel my life coming true…)

He saved my life

(I feel my life coming true…)

Verbal D
Verse 1:
I played my life on the flute of fools
Ate my just desserts on my plate of food
Made a tasteless choice now they think I'm rude
I just misunderstood, and misconstrued

Some love money like Mister Scrooge
Some are slick, ice cold, like a winter luge
Some'll go for broke, to make a profit huge
But don't care about their souls, whether win or lose

My soul's gentle like a burning candle glow
Hard to swallow pride, when the flesh is tangible
I bit off more than I could truly handle though
A sore jaw broken teeth and mandible

I made a change to bring a Godly plan to go
Sharing out the gospel with a love expandable
Ask to forgive, God was understandable
Came to my senses, it was time I had to grow…

Verbal D
Chorus:
Playing on the flute of fools
I made a song for my demise
I didn't know what I should I do
But Christ then opened my eyes
With a new song amazing

He saved my life

(I feel my life coming true…)

He saved my life

(I feel my life coming true…)

Verbal D
Verse 2:
I said a lot of statements that are not retractable
Broke promises, non contractual
Made connections that I wasn't supposed to
And embarrassed myself 'til the point of laughable

Acted like I was above inflammable
Cold heart, like a tribal cannibal
When things got heated, I was out, detachable
On a decline like a line diagonal

Had encounters with the supernatural
So illogical and most irrational
Faced walls that I thought impassable
Brought to the floor saw my world collapsible

I survived with a love adaptable
Back into place like a part mechanical
Learned my faith, labeled "radical"
But I see the bigger picture, not the fractional...

Verbal D
Chorus:
Playing on the flute of fools
I made a song for my demise
I didn't know what I should I do
But Christ then opened my eyes
With a new song amazing

He saved my life

(I feel my life coming true…)

He saved my life

(I feel my life coming true…)

Thank you for reading and listening to this post in its entirety. I think the Gif above is hilarious and although it doesn't fit the overall feeling and tone of this song, I just had to include it because indeed Will Ferrel is great at acting like a Comedic Fool lol

I'll still be continuing accepting donations until I can reach my goal to fly out to america with my children and wife to visit my family as it is very urgent indeed.

I've raised $394 and .36 cents of Steemit Currency in total from both My Posts and Donations from Steemit Community Members this 2017 forward and $00.00 in US Dollar Donations so far towards my goal of $ 6,000.00 (Six Thousand) US Dollars and will keep everyone updated with every new future post that I submit.
This total amount will not only include donations I've received to the Paypal account I've provided: [email protected], but it will also include the Steemit Currency that I accrue/receive from all of my personal posts starting the 1st of January of 2017 forward calculated after a 48 hour time frame is finished for the payout cycle of each post to avoid miscalculating the fluctuating price of Steemit Currency.

Bro! Representing kokopelli! Mad respect. I went to Santa Fe every year and feel in love with the culture there. Perfect way to represent the flutes! The rap was short but on line. Your voice is great man. Leads you to many opportunities. You really were reaching for something on this one!

Thanks bro I really appreciate you chiming in as usual. I'll have to research kokopelli and your reference to Santa Fe. The rap verse was a standard sixteen line verse, but because of the speed in which it is executed, that's why it seems a lot shorter, but it's the same length as all my other verses.

I am glad you think my voice was okay for this one, it took more than a handful of tries to get it right, but I'm almost near 100% healed up, just a lingering annoying itch in the throat and some coughing. Thanks again, I reached deep for this one indeed.

Oh, I just researched Kokopelli lol I never knew it was a fertility deity of Native Americans. I just picked the gif because it was a cool moving image. I respect the culture being part Native American myself from the Apache tribe but I have no spiritual or personal connection to kokopelli as a Christian. Good to know now though, thanks for the heads up bro.

Yeah man! It must have been destiny. That is very popular art in the south-west US because of the Native American influence. I like how you are singing more. You have one of the best voices on open mic for sure.

You are very kind bro and generous with your compliments. I do my best and am glad to make a genuine connection with fellow artists and listeners as yourself. I also feel you have one of the highest levels of passion and display of emotion when you perform, sing and play for all of us in the open mic, and that is definitely a characteristic you don't want to be lacking in as a live performer/musician. Big kudos

Thanks man! I think the blues taught me that. Sometimes it doesn't have to be clean but you for sure have to sell it haha.

You're most welcome. I completely agree :)

Thank you for the update

Nice. If Frank Sinatra could rap. Up voted. Let me know if you would ever like to do a music collaboration. Have a few songs posted here on Steemit.

Hey @ambienthex, thank you very much, I appreciate the comment and up vote. Most grateful. I'm glad enjoyed this entry. I'll definitely check out your songs if I can find them on your profile, depending on how far I have to scroll down lol I'll let you know about collaborating when I finish listening. Thanks for the offer.

Nice! Hieroglyphic is the latest one. Needs a little more drum work. Can do all kinds of styles. If you would like to do a collab, I can do the backing track and you can post. Just a hobby and enjoy making music and it's more fun making tunes with others.

Cool, I would love to hear a Boom Bap style track from you, I'm big on Jazz, Hip Hop, definitely like J Dilla 9th Wonder Q Tip type beats as well, but I'm always open to collab for sure, you can show me some ideas you create and I'll write a song to it or freestyle over it. I definitely agree, music is a connecting language among people. I enjoy collaborations. I'm just about to finish my production of a new instrumental called "On The Ball" for @everlove's collaborative art journey, please check it out when I post it soon. I also enjoy producing beats, and I'm currently working on art gallery music for @everlove's finale pieces of all participating artists who submit their work to her on her page. I believe we are on the 14th week of 14 separate Collaborative Art Journeys so far. You should check her page out for sure and join in the fun. We interpret photos she gives us and just go anywhere and everywhere with our style of art form.

Thanks. Track still needs some polishing. Have done a few hip hop style fusion with techno style beats. Tried to do a collaboration with a Nigerian Hip Hop artist called the suspect. Unfinished hip hop track here with his vocals:

Tried doing a collab with a Nigerian Hip Hop Artist called Tha Suspect. Wasn't interested. Track went unfinished. Weird fusion of hip hop and techno with disjointed ambience in there with the Windchimes.

Well let me know if you make a boom bap style beat or any hip hop beat around 80-100 BPM range and I will definitely give it a listen. I write and create pretty fast so even though I have a lot of unfinished projects, when it comes to collabs, I'm pretty adamant about completing them, even rough draft layouts.

Sure! Definitely up for a collaboration. Easy to work from a mock up of the melody, rhythm and beat even if it's just hummed, whistled, sang or vocalized. Let me know what kind of music you would like to freestyle over and can start putting something together. Would want you to have some input on the production of the music track too. Email is [email protected]. Can send some ideas that way and will start on a track.

Sounds good! Have a friend who is rising in the Hip Hop world. Squala Orphan. He has a bit of a different style than mainstream Hiphop and just started doing some touring. Can do something in this sort of style. He has worked with the Alchemist on some of his beats. Been to his listening party at the cutting room in NYC. Dude lives, eats and breathes his music. Music is life.

Definitely bro, I'mma check him out. I just posted my new beat On The Ball, give it a listen when you get a chance. It is interpretive of the photo provided by @everlove. Hope you enjoy it bro. And I'm the same same, Music is a big part of my life indeed. I'll reply again when I hear this video

Yeah this was fresh, I liked it bro, if you can make a beat like this, with piano and nice bass and what not, I'm definitely open to what you can create for sure. Cool track from your friend, thanks for sharing.

Oh, wow! You culminated this whole mini-series to a live song! This was such an unexpected and welcome surprise. It really wrapped this whole thing up nicely. Every installment was definitely top-notch, and arguably one of your best efforts to date (which is impressive because you have such an impressive repertoire). The flute playing on the background was just so fitting, shout to Rico Raicoz. Just keep going at it, and I have no doubt that your talents would be recognized widely and be celebrated accordingly. Spectacular performance, brother. Best of luck in the contest!

Thank you so much bro, I always appreciate your kind words and feedback. Really glad that you liked this full song. When you get a chance check out the On The Ball post, if you haven't gotten involved with @everlove's Collaborative Art Journey, I feel your poetry or something along those lines could definitely be a great contribution to our community artwork.

That's interesting, and I'll definitely look into it. Thanks for bringing that to my attention and for the consideration, brother.

Great job man. We rock Kokopeli down in AZ as well. She shows up everywhere.

Thank you very much bro, I appreciate you listening and checking this out, it seems Kokopelli is everywhere indeed! I've been to AZ many times, it's crazy hot there, I don't know how my family can stay there but it's nice too.
