Call for Foundation Structure Proposals
The Working Group of the Steem Alliance has now issued the official call for Foundation Structure Proposals.
The process of proposal submission / refinement will take place over three 2 week blocks, before the proposals are put to a community vote.
@llfarms and @shadowspub from the Steem Alliance discussed the proposal process during the State of Steem Forum #8 (see below).
State of Steem Forum #8 - The Wrap-Up (part 1)
The State of Steem Forum series on Thursday moved on to the first of two 'wrap-up' forums.
Each of these two forums is looking at where we are on 12 key indicator projects for 2019.
This week's forum covered Hivemind, RocksDB, Smart Media Tokens, Communities, The Steem Alliance & The Steem Foundation, and the Steem Worker Proposal System (now Steem.DAO).
Speakers at the forum were Ned Scott @ned, Michael Vandeberg @vandeberg and Justin @justinw from Steemit Inc, along with developer @inertia, @yabapmatt from Steem-Engine, @shredz7 (Stratos), @jarvie (SteemPeak), @exyle (Blockbrothers witness), @llfarms and @shadowspub from the Steem Alliance Working Group and @starkerz and @fredrikaa representing the new Steem Business Alliance.

Just prior to the forum Steemit Inc posted another update on progress on cost reductions, MIRA/RocksDB, the Condenser/Wallet split and advertisting...
Swapsteem goes live
Swapsteem is a new peer to peer exchange for the Steem blockchain.
Swapsteem is a peer to peer exchange for Steem blockchain. We creating a platform for Steem users to enable P2P trading of STEEM/SBD to different Fiat and Crypto Currencies using secure escrow transactions. This post is regarding the new p2p crypto markets we have added at Swapsteem.
Trading with BTC and EOS has now been enabled.
The team has also launched a DPoll asking users "Which Cryptocurrencies should be listed against STEEM and SBD on Swapsteem?"
Steem Business Alliance launches
Conceived at SteemFest 3 the initial members of the Steem Business Alliance (SBA) are @oracle-d, @steempress, @steemhunt, @fundition and @utopian-io.
The SBA will be an organisation for any registered businesses involved in for-profit, sustainable use of the Steem blockchain. It will be a community driven strategic alliance that shares resources, education and expertise while jointly developing best practise solutions for interested members to adopt. Once a rigid set of practices and a significant resource base is developed, the goal will be to attract new prospective clients and businesses to the Steem blockchain who may benefit from our joint experience.
New witness on the block - @themadcurator
Prolific curator @themadcurator has joined the ranks of Steem witnesses...
@themadcurator is 100% manual curation focused and is an engagement focused initiative. I give away 200 Steem Power weekly to authors I believe deserve it. I also give away over 150,000 SP worth of free votes on a daily basis.
All witness rewards will stay powered up and used to help reward more content. I see no reason to power down for the foreseeable future. All witness infrastructure is paid for in fiat and does not require me to power down.
