Watching the collaboration happen online between musicians who played and met on Steemit Open Mic is very rewarding and many of the people who play and post earn some nice rewards for playing a song.

Hmm, I never thought of that. It's already a lot of work but that could be a good idea. It could run the risk of oversaturating people's feed with Open Mic posts but maybe you're right.
I could do a post asking the community what they think about it but if I did do a daily post of all the entries it wouldn't leave me much time to post about anything else.
I have noticed that some people are posting a list of the trending posts on Steemit Open Mic.
@markboss was posting a list of trending Open Mic posts although it wasn't very accurate
@vertical is doing something similar about Open Mic
@andybets made a really cool thing called Steemit Open Mic Chart which is SO cool you got to go see it.

Absolutely! Now, that it's out in the community, maybe someone with app skills will volunteer to help out the overall good by offering a time-expedient solution.
I found a workaround in the time I posted this. I searched Steemit Open-Mic Week 55 and it came up with a sample list. I knew it wasn't complete because two of the artists I follow weren't listed.

I've been talking with @blueorgy about some features to add to the Open Mic contest that could be built on a dedicated website. It's just talk right now but he has the capability and has built a lot of cool apps for Steemit.
Are there other successful Steemit extensions on 'dedicated websites' that you know of off the cuff?
@luzcypher, no disrespect; but, I think you may be an example of God raining great things on the just and unjust alike.
I have a strong belief that this #openmic thing will grow exponentially. You probably need to start getting things ordered for such...beyond the 'talk' stage :+).
When SmartTokens come in to play, you will probably be able to add t-shirts, et al to the increase. I expect you will eventually hire a PR staff, among other essential employees.
So, best regards that you will be able to keep up with the rate of increase. Right now, you're watching it grow. I hope you'll design long-term plans to stay ahead of the competition.

I'm already thinking along these lines but first and foremost staying focused on growing the community. That is what makes it cool.
Yes, but be careful to not be so eager to grow without a plan for what happens when it really blows up.
I think this is what's going on with Steemit right now. It is growing; but, they're now trying to figure out how to keep up with the growth, while making it grow even more.
If you take your team into conference-mode and take the time to analyze all of the suggestions you have from the community and formalize a flow chart; you will be better-prepared when the day comes and the community is growing smooth-sailing.

Interesting idea indeed!, i also miss a lot of entries, sometimes i dont have enough time to browse over all the openmic tag search... And one post with all the entries its a bit exhausting for the one doing the post...
Yes, and the audience viewing the posts tend to skim over potentially good content; and, watch a select few.
I'm sure there's an application where people who audition can have their uploads directed to a special page for daily review.
It will take a little planning; but, I'm of the belief someone has an efficient solution.
I sense Open-Mic will continue to grow; and, I sense it's going to eventually be broken into genres: instrumental, vocals, free-style, poetry, to name a few.
I guess it's a good time for @luzcypher to start a formal long-term plan for this site, especially with Smart Tokens on the horizon.

While we're on the subject, what features would you like to see in a dedicated website for Open Mic? For example, searchable by the user, week number, number of votes, categories, etc.
Steemit is in maintenance-mode; it took a while to get this post to upload.
Ideally:
A daily post of links only for each participant in a given day.
This would allow the community to view the videos in levels instead of the current all-in-one sitting on a Sunday evening.
A genre-related voting segment (i.e. Voters could pick their favorite instrumental, vocals, poetry, etc.) At the end of the week (optionally) they could vote for their favorite of each category, followed by a final vote of all categories put in the pool (as is now).
The judges would be replaced with a single vote by the community to pick their favorite contestant of the comprised ‘winners’ of each category.
This would be solely contingent on community involvement.
When Smart Tokens come into play, a penny to the Open-Mic platform gives a person a chance to participate in the final vote.
In other words, Open-Mic would primarily become a computer-generated winner...
Just some random thoughts! Hope they make sense!
