One photo every day: Church of Hollola (238/365)

in #onephotoeveryday6 years ago (edited)

While Miro was attending the birthday of a classmate, I drove to the old Hollola, and the medieval Church of Hollola.

Took this shot:

Camera body: Canon EOS 550D
Lens: Sigma ART 50mm ƒ/1.4
Aperture: ƒ/5.6
Exposure: 1/100 s
ISO: Dual-ISO 100+200

I'm not a religious man, but I think this Church is very beautiful. I can understand why people of the past built these buildings.

Edit: I made a slight oops writing this post, as the church itself (built in 1480–1560), is actually the building visible behind the clock tower. The clock tower that was designed by Carl Ludwig Engel is built in 1829–1831. I think I'll be taking more photos there some day. :)

The truth is a beautiful building, and being in the middle of a snowy landscape gives a nostalgic touch

Same thing. I am not into religion that much but I still think there are some beautiful churches out there. This particular church is nothing compared to Sacre Couer in Paris for example but on a Finnish scale it looks pretty good. I wonder what kind of churches I will see in Rome when I go there in few weeks. There are apparently churches every where.

I thought churches were made to make little kids enter and then lie to them.
I still remember the scandal about perverted priests who did dirty things to children.

Oh, all the child raping memes we have made with my friends who are also coming to Rome and Vatican.

I think that the scandal isn't completely over yet...

Those bad people completely ruined the whole sacred understanding of churches and religion.
It's actually cool inside the church and so calm (It was cool when I was there like four or five years ago lol).

@gamer00 - Sir I'm not in Christian religion... But this photography is so beautiful... Stunning scene & you captured it incredibly Sir...

+W+

I think the church is beautiful too! It looks so modern and ancient at the same time.

What a co-incidence that both of us ended up doing the exact same thing: drove a kid of ours to a friend's birthday party and used the opportunity to shoot photos in the meantime.

Haha I was just about to comment that it seems like everyones kids are having birthday parties today

Right, you all have kids. How do you find time to post!
You two are so vigorous daddies. With lots of energy haha!

Markku has a job so he's got even less time for posting. I just have a broken internal clock.

I think all great artists have the broken internal clock lol.

I'm not religious at all either but In my country the most beautiful buildings are the all churches. We have a big Catherdral in the centre of my hometown that is one of the most visited places alongside with the beach. Like the snowy nature of the photo as well! Great job again!

Very good photography, especially the colors, they shift very smoothly.
Hollola what a great name. Someone was lol'ing very hard making it lol.

The property lot I talked about in the other post is also located in Hollola. I finally found out the selling price Yesterday. My aunt asks for 60k€. Hmm...

Is it even money for you? You should've already got a couple hundred in crypto...
You will be fine. If your boys and waifu will like it then why not get it.

I remember markkujantunen saying something about driving his kid to a birthday too (Or maybe I'm wrong).
Anyway, great photo. I think everything complements each other in the picture.

You're right. Markku even commented about this same thing :)

Oh, I'm blind... Should've read the comment section lol.
The day was too long, don't see anything already heh.

It's cool looking building and it's a good photo to portray it, any idea how old is it? A photo from the top of that church must be incredible, maybe next time for the One photo every day: Church of Hollola Top 365/365 maybe :D think about it. Best luck @gamer00

Stunning photo and church 🙏🏼

Just like you I'm not religious in the traditional sense but I am a big fan of those sublime structures towering into the sky 🤟🏼
