Description
Learn the function of Cloud Generator
Cloud Generator is an exciting module, which is capable of producing some unique sound for your music. Cloud Generator is a dual-output VCO and has eight oscillators on board for shaping complex sounds. Cloud Generator lets us choose Sine and Saw wave outputs as well as the number of oscillators outputting those wave forms. Cloud Generator allows us to select multiple oscillators then detune them to make an interesting sound. Cloud Generator also gives us two Chaos adjusters which introduces noise into the waveforms.

Learn how to adjust Spread.
We can choose to have 2, 4 or 8 oscillators play at the same Cloud Generator. Spread detunes these oscillators. Each of the oscillators' pitchs spread out in opposite directions from the fundamental. In the tutorial I use Analyzer to show how this spreading takes place.

Learn how to adjust Chaos.
The Chaos adjustment introduces noise into the oscillators. This is done differently per oscillator and varies according to the spread. In the video tutorial I demonstrate how this is done.

Learn how to adjust ChaosBW.
The ChaosBW adjustment lets us fine tune the noise which is being introduced from the Chaos adjustment. ChaosBW uses frequency filtering on the oscillators to achieve this. In the tutorial I show the results of using this.

Learn how to adjust the oscillator count.
The 3-way toggle switch on the UI lets us choose between 2, 4 and 8 oscillators to be playing at one time. By choose different numbers of oscillators we are able to make sounds of varying textures and timbres.

VCV Rack is an open source application, which means that it is free for everyone to use. Please consider going to the developers' website and show your support for the project - http://www.vcvrack.com

I hope you enjoy this tutorial. If you have any specific questions for me feel free to leave it in the comments of this post and I will do my best to get back to you with an answer.

One of my favorite tracks over the past few years was inspired by the Cloud Generator module. It's a great example of the power that it can put out.
