Feedback

Feedback is another great little component of Helm. It is very easy to use and helps you make unique sounds for your music.

Feedback adds harmonics to the sounds coming from the oscillators. All acoustic sounds around us are full of harmonics. These are the high 'overtones' that result from the 'fundamental' note being played. For example, on a violin you may be playing an A note, but that sound has many higher pitched harmonics that make up the timbre of that violin sound. Without these harmonics the note would not be the sound that we are used to.

The three controllers allow you to manipulate these harmonics to get the sounds you want: Transpose, Tune and Amount.

Transpose lets us move through the harmonics in big movements, whereas the tune control make very small movements allowing more precise control. The amount control can be moved into the negative and positive position giving us the desired amount and variations of the harmonics we have selected with Transpose and Tune.

As with all the modules in Helm, Feedback is meant to be used in coordination with other modules to create unique sounds. Explore what this and all the other modules have to offer you.

I hope you have enjoyed this video tutorial on Helm. There will be more tutorials to follow.
