State of Steem Forum #6 on communities, content creation, curation and retention takes place on Thursday.
Communities are coming to Steem both via @shredz7's Stratos DApp and with the new China based WhereIn platform.
And KryptoGamers are bringing another dice game to our Steem screens.

State of Steem Forum #6 on Thursday covers communities, content creation, curation and retention. The forum runs from 8pm - 11pm UTC / 3pm - 6pm EST on MSP Waves.

Developer @shredz7 has now built a Communities system to run on his Stratos DApp...
Communities runs on a layer above Steem in the sense that Steem nodes won’t actually compute communities data, but the transactions will still be stored on the blockchain. This allows for features such as tokens (see DLUX, hashkings, steem engine) and communities to be added on Steem without actually changing the node.
The communities feature is part of a wider initiative/DApp called Stratos. In the future Stratos is planned to have features such as token creation and links between blockchains to other networks such as EOS or Tron, all implemented on a layer/sidechain on top of Steem.
The Stratos DApp will launch with only one feature - communities. Communities will have the ability to be open or restricted, and have advanced administration features including 4 different ranks able to be granted to different members, each having different positions.
The Communities project is still at the MVP stage but is evolving rapidly...

The new Steem-based lifestyle social media platform Wherein is also launching a Communities feature.
The Communities function will be on the Android version of WhereIn first...
Another roll of the dice
Newcomers KryptoGamers have launched another "provably fair" dice game for Steem.
The house-edge for the KryptoGamers dice game is stated as 1%. It is understood the figure for MagicDice is 2%.
KryptoGamers uses the Steem Keychain browser extension rather than SteemConnect.
The KryptoGamers gaming platform plans to introduce more games soon.
Another Witness shutdown
Long time steemian @demotruk has decided to shut down his witness.
Ireland based @demotruk has been a witness since October 2017 but is now closing the witness primarily for cost reasons...
I am mainly shutting down because the cost to run it is much higher than the income at this point, with my position below top 100. I am essentially selling Steem every month to cover the cost, far more than it brings in, which doesn't make much sense.
