Voting Closed And Data In

The ad-hoc working group is still busy validating the cast votes, and will have an announcement out as soon as we are sure, to the best of our ability, that this election was fair. Due to a few small possible in-discrepancies, we will be taking a bit more time to confirm.

We believe we had a great turn out, with 496 unique voters showing up at the polls! Thank you all for your participation and assistance in this.

Community Review

Our goal has always been for full transparency and because of this we wanted to release the raw data to the community for them to review as well.

We analysed the vote, processed it into a csv and now ask the community to verify the results. Due to discord limitations, only 100 votes are shown on each nominee.

Nominees with over 100 votes include; @reggaemuffin -165, @llfarms - 137, @inertia - 111, @jedigeiss - 111, @lemouth - 111. Only the first 100 votes in the list of these nominees will be on the document provided (due to discord limitiations), but we welcome the public to check the additional votes in the voting channel as well.

Data

This is your election, check the data and share your feedback. We will be releasing final tally as soon as we are confident the results are accurate.

Sort:

Full democracy comes with full transparency. I like it so far.

Congratulations to all who all who accepted the nominations. Hat off to all who got elected. I don't envy you since you have some dirty work to do.

For all who care, my opinion:

  1. This election and this AhWG was just a precursor for the real elections and everything connected with it. Lots of work and not a lot of fame.
  2. No, it was not too quick or too rushed or anything. Why wait? I do feel that this time is critical.
Mark my words - if we don't fix this system and find a structured way to support it long term it will be gone by May.
You can quote me on this.
  3. Some of you are concerned that the number of those actively participating is too low. Well, these are those who care and look around and read and show up. That's it. At the time of nominations, there were 245 participants in the Discord. So, 496 unique voters is a big number in my view.
  4. The real work comes now. Our job is to spread the word, come up with ideas and reasonable proposals, to oversee the AhWG's work in a constructive manner.

And then, to participate for functions and role when Alliance's real structure, roles, and functions will be put into reality and people will stand behind these roles and start working on what we all want - a sustainable, attractive, lean, adaptive, profitable, independent, decentralized platform for all individuals and groups involved.

So, good luck to us all. We have some work to do! Work that should have been done three years ago...

Ps. I'm not thinking about the money with some of the attributes above ;)

Echoes my thoughts as well, thank you for that. Seriously, this is not going to be an easy job, and it is unfortunate that not everyone got the say, but we got buy-in from a much wider audience than the first working group.

Anyone feeling they are "missing out" should really be part of productive conversations in advancing the hard work that comes now, rather than just spitting on it and avoiding it. That's if you want to give voice to any concerns you might have over the formulation of the new foundation(s).

This is an ongoing experiment-- there's a chance it falls apart too, and that will depend on so many factors it makes my head hurt. For now, we need to build on the momentum and get something that has wide reach in the full steem community.

Exactly.

Now is everybody's chance to participate in a positive way to build a sound foundation.

So, let's spread the word :)

I, and no one else can have any idea if this data is valid or not. Were nominees asked to swear and disclose their alt accounts first? I neither use discord nor am I registered with a ginabot, so I am excluded in any case.
Why not just stick the list of names in dpoll, and give us 7 days to look through them and vote?
The community is here, on the Steem blockchain. Not on discord, and why all the rush?

I completely agree with the "and why all the rush?" question.
I just noticed this whole voting thing (it is currently 2 days old), but I can't (and no one else can) vote now for anyone, because it is already closed.

Thanks for that Nathen and we do understand the concern. We did do multiple checks and the use of gina was to "link" the discord account to their steem one. We then went through manually to check for alts and did remove a few from the votes. Anyone is free to go through the data as well.

Dpoll is a great option and one the group has discussed to use on many future decisions. We agree that the community is on the chain, and that is where the future process should take place. This was a one time use of the discord app to be used as a way to collect a vote. The election was for a temporary, organizational group and it was decided (with input from the community) that discord was an efficient use for this particular election.

The election itself was announced a week in advance with nominations and voting spanning over a 36hr time period. Elections for proposal structures, members of future boards or important decisions will most likely be a week (or more) voting time period.

The feedback and concerns have been heard and we are taking them all into consideration. Due to the sort of unplanned and organic way this whole thing came about as well as opening it immediately to the public (for sake of full transparency), things have not been as organized as they should be.. but I can say we did our absolute best in the circumstances we were given.

We hope to be more clear and organized going forward. Here is a post explaining that a bit more.

Absolute thanks and respect for the indepth reply. I will digest and also try harder to keep up with the @steemalliance page.

Looks like these 11 are the ones with the top votes if I have understood the spreadsheet correctly.

Thanks for looking at it @kabir88! We are also comparing those votes to weed out duplicate votes from possible alt accounts etc. If you are feeling bored 😉

Seriously, thank you. We really are trying to go for full transparency and appreciate the help from the community.

Here are the minimum rules for a fair election :

  • You present the purpose of the working group
  • you give at least 15 days for candidates to introduce themselves
  • you present the rules for the election : number of rounds, tool to vote, date of the election, who is entitle to vote...
  • you announce the date for the election at least 15 days in advance so voters can ask questions to candidate or at least read their presentation.
  • you let a large enough period so that everybody can vote.

496 voters ? and you are happy with that ?
So now that the working group is elected what is its purpose of this group ?

I agree that this are good criteria for elections regarding the foundation itself. The working group is tasked to oversee future elections and for the sake of not waiting two months longer was not done in such a fashion. It is a group without power, the criteria will be higher for more important positions.

There will be calls for proposals on how such an election should be structured and I am looking forward to seeing your proposed structure there.

I propose to use https://votemobile.xyz/ for next elections, and a presentation of candidate and rules on Steem.

There are certain people that pushed this to fast and its not steemit inc. Your points are fair and very valid. Knowledge and skills are lacking and I can see this being a power struggle where some of the mouthy ones win out instead of the knowledgeable ones. I know many people that should have stepped forward did not for these very reasons. These are the reasons I abstained from voting. People do want change, and fair enough some people stepped forward ( which is more than I done) but their motivation, well lets just say I don't fully trust. When the power struggle and the need for fame dies down, I might begin to partake in all this. But right now let them at it.

Actually, the only rush was from an individual at Steemit Inc., so I’m not sure of this comment at all.. as you were there from the beginning. You should be the one voicing the truth.

Im not as mouthy as some. Not my gig. Thanks for your opinion.

I didn’t realize speaking the truth made someone mouthy. It does seem much more beneficial to not do anything and then twist the narrative after, easier anyways.

I’ll continue with the truth, and the insults that come with it, I can accept that. Good luck.

There is a lot you dont realize

I can admit to that, and do often. But no, speaking the truth is never a bad idea and if that makes someone “mouthy”, then so be it.

Did i call u mouthy. But i do say this, you have a habbit of thinking you are worth talking about. You version of the truth is not always everyone elses. My comment was not to you. Enjoy your day!

do i look fat in these pants? good time to not tell the truth.

From listening to the radio shows this past week, I feel it was Ned/Steemit inc wanting to get the show on the road as quickly as possible. He's been told to slow his roll at times due to his shiny object obsession (my words not anyone else's) and eagerness to get started. Something like that anyway.

I do agree that some potentially worthy candidates have taken a step back and that this is a shame cause that leaves the door open for others, that's how it goes though eh.

Interesting to watch for sure.

ned nor steemit inc organised the voting, those facilitating it did. They could have just as easy said no to the rush. control of this was passed over from what I seen( although I got sick of it last week and havent gone to the discord since so I could be wrong) and the authors of the post on this account could have refused to do it. I don't know if steemit inc even has a copy of the keys for this account though which it was all organised. Anyways I dont really care anymore. its to negative for me and I dont want to focus on it to much. There is plenty of positivity and nice people that are looking for help and support trying to get by and thats where I will be.

And hay, I said shiny new object syndrome way way before you lol...I can prove it too lol

The new MD said it too, but I wanted to make clear i wasn't quoting you or her :P

hahah they are all taking my words.......well at least its in context lol

To ask the community to draft proposals for the future foundation and organize a process to gather/select/vote the best one (or the best mixture of them).

I agree the community should have needed more time for voting and more information about the purpose of this working group.

Posted using Partiko Android

You can find the purpose outlined in multiple posts as well as pinned in the discord server. This is not a position in the foundation but rather an election committee of sorts with secretarial duties who’s goal is to gather the proposals on the structure of said foundation from the community and put forward a fair election of said proposals. After this is done, the group would disband.

I also voted for @reggaemuffin and @jedigeiss.
Congrats to all winners!
Thanks for your effort!

Hugs

Diana

Congrats to the winners I voted for all of you :-)
