Travel Photography | 23. Ulan-Ude – Buryat people

My flu was still on so I slept late. Once I woke up, I decided to take my dear friend Javier’s advice and go see the Hodigitria cathedral in the end of Lenin street. It was a short walk along the main street (end to end, really) and on the way I wanted to snap some photos of the local people.

Yes, that’s me (and Lenin) to avoid confusion.

Local tourists, tsk.

Now I’m sure there has to be an Irish pub in every town in the world!

The Buryat ladies (actually most of all Russian ladies) are wearing heels at least 10cm high, which is a miracle, as I have trouble walking the poorly maintained streets with my boots 🙂

Here it is Javier, but the head is gone!!!! Maybe they buried on that mound of dirt? The showel is still there!

Finally I found the pine nuts Kiril told me about in the train! With a small sketch and russian words, i managed to ask my way to a small marketplace, where this nice lady sold me a cup of pine nuts for a bargain of 30R!
