Travel Photography | 20. Siberia Photo Report 2011, Ulan-Ude

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

After settling in my actual hostel here in Ulan-Ude, East Siberia, I took a stroll to catch the great awesomeness that is the sun outside. Ulan-Ude is a very small (around 320 000 people) sympathetic town along a river and surrounded with green hills. It is also a home to Russian ethnic minority of Buryats. This ensures a very interesting combination of Asiatic/Buddhist/Russian atmosphere. The Buryat people look distinctively Asian so I can forget about blending in here 🙂

Right next to my hostel there is the world’s biggest Lenin’s head.

Seriously, it’s huge.

Love how they just used rebar to make the stairs slip-proof.

Thinking of going to East Baikal this week before I leave for Ulaanbaatar. Although it might be I will be leaving a little early as it seems there is not whole lot to do here… Give it 2 more days if nothing else happens.
