Travel with me in Siberia - The sleeping dragon in Tuva (Part 30 en-de)

Now 2 days in Tuva are left for me, then a week in Krasnoyarsk is my plan. I decide to use this day to visit an old friend and shaman. He lives in Schagonar, which is about 75 miles from Kysyl. At the bus station I find a minibus taxi which will go there. In the usual fast paced ride we go, the relatively well developed main road to the west along the Yenisei.

Jetzt liegen noch 2 Tage Tuva vor mir, dann geht es für eine Woche nach Krasnojarsk. Ich beschließe den heutigen Tag zu nutzen um einen alten Freund und Schamanen zu besuchen. Er wohnt in Schagonar, das sind etwa 120 km von Kysyl. Am Busbahnhof finde ich ein Kleinbus-Taxi das dorthin fahren wird und buche mich ein. In gewohnt rasanter Fahrt geht es die relativ gut ausgebaute Hauptverbindungsstraße nach Westen dem Yenisei entlang.

Centered in front of the mountain, there is a resting place and a place visited by the Dalai Lama a few years ago. During all the journeys of the last few years, there was always a stop and the red kites were fed. With the help of food from the shop no problem, it is an attraction to let these huge birds whiz to you. The taxi driver, however, has no sense for a break and just drive by.

Mittig des Berges gibt es eine Raststätte und einen Platz den der Dalai Lama vor ein paar Jahren besucht hat. Bei allen Fahrten der letzten Jahre wurde hier immer Halt gemacht und die roten Milane gefüttert. Mit Hilfe von Futter aus dem Shop kein Problem, ist es doch eine Attraktion diese riesigen Vögel auf wenige Meter heranbrausen zu lassen. Der Taxifahrer hat jedoch keinen Sinn für eine Pause und rast einfach daran vorbei.

Then we are already there, the obligatory place sign shows us the arrival in the bear land.

Dann sind wir auch schon da, das obligatorische Ortsschild zeigt uns die Ankunft im Bärenland.

This is the province, a little bleak at the first moment, and it is no better in the second.

Das ist also die Provinz, etwas trostlos im ersten Augenblick, und auch im zweiten wird es nicht besser.

Doch dann werde ich als Kelte doch etwas furchtsam, als nämlich der Himmel beginnt herunterzufallen.

My visit to the shaman is unfortunately a big disappointment, he is not there, and a neighbor says he is not there for 3 days. In reality, he's in the hospital and is dying, which no one tells me and I can not see him anymore. For me, a great blow, since he was one of the last really great shamans of Tuva. He gave me some of his equipment, made a legendary radio interview with me, familiarized me with rituals, and explained many of Tuva's secrets to me.

Mein Besuch beim Schamanen wird leider eine große Entäuschung, er ist nicht da, und eine Nachbarin sagt er sei für 3 Tage nicht da. In Wirklichkeit ist er im Krankenhaus und liegt im Sterben, was mir aber keiner sagt und ich ihn darum nicht mehr sehen kann. Für mich ein großer Schlag, da er doch einer der letzten wirklich großen Schamanen Tuvas war. Er hat mir einen Teil seiner Ausrüstung geschenkt, mit mir ein legendäres Radiointerview gemacht, mich mit Ritualen vertraut gemacht und viele Geheimnisse Tuvas erklärt.

In the mountains it starts to snow heavily and before everything sinks in the snow I look for a taxi back to Kysyl. And that happened in no time, because I can go back with the same taxi I came with.

In den Bergen beginnt es heftig zu schneien und bevor hier alles im Schnee versinkt suche ich ein Taxi nach Kysyl zurück. Und das ist auch gleich geschehen, da ich mit dem gleichen Taxi wieder zurückfahren kann , mit dem ich hergekommen bin.

Now the sleeping dragon can be seen from the other side, an impressive mountain that simply stands out of a plane.

Jetzt ist der schlafende Drache von der anderen Seite zu sehen, ein beeindruckender Berg, der einfach so aus einer Ebene herausragt.

The Yenisei emerges, the birches and the steppe, in the distance the taiga in the mountains and shortly afterwards I am back in Kysyl.

Der Yenisei taucht auf, die Birken und die Steppe, in der Ferne die Taiga in den Bergen und kurz darauf bin ich wieder in Kysyl.
