Trip to the Ethno village / Ausflug ins Ethno Dorf

After a short sleep and further food and tea we go on a trip. My hosts invite me to get to know the Yakutian culture. By car, it is a few kilometers to the west of the city. We first head for a museum house. A Yakutian horse is tied to the traditional pile (Serge), the sled dogs are not to be missed in the background.

Nach kurzem Schlaf und weiterem Essen und Tee geht es los zu einem Ausflug. Meine Gastgeber laden mich ein die jakutische Kultur kennenzulernen. Mit dem Auto geht es ein paar Kilometer in westlicher Richtung an den Rand der Stadt. Wir steuern zuerst ein Museumshaus an. Ein jakutisches Pferd steht angebunden am traditionellen Pfosten, im Hintergrund sind die Schlittenhunde nicht zu überhören.

Each new visitor is first barked strongly, in the joyful expectation of an exit with the sled.

Jeder neue Besucher wird erst mal kräftigst angebellt, in der frohen Erwartung auf eine Ausfahrt mit dem Schlitten.

But we only look at the sled and the dogs know immediately that we will not drive and are quiet again.

Wir sehen uns den Schlitten aber nur an und die Hunde wissen sofort dass wir nicht fahren werden und sind wieder ruhig.

Giant ice sculpture whose meaning is not obvious to me. Everywhere the raw blocks lying around and artists use it to make all possible characters and then put it somewhere in the city. They will meet us more often.

Eine riesige Eisskulptur, deren Sinn sich mir nicht erschließt. Überall liegen die rohen Blöcke rum und Künstler fertigen daraus alle denkbaren Figuren und stellen sie dann irgendwo in der Stadt auf. Sie werden uns noch des öfteren begegnen.

In the house are many objects of the early Russian bespatter to see, here a selection of samovars, or self-cookers, for the tea preparation. Chests, cards, weapons, medals, with which I do not want to bother you, lets go outside again.

Im Haus sind viele Objekte der frühen russischen Besidelung zu sehen, hier eine Auswahl von Samowaren, oder Selbstkocher, zur Teezubereitung. Truhen, Karten, Waffen, Medalien, damit will ich euch nicht langweilen, gehen wir wieder nach draussen.

The house, like all the wooden houses of Jakutia, is built without nails. Iron parts would not last long the 100 degree difference and the design would collapse.

Das Haus ist, wie alle jakutischen Holzhäuser, ohne Nägel gebaut. Eisenteile würden den 100 Grad Unterschied nicht lange mitmachen und die Konstruktion in sich zusammenfallen.

Even high voltage masts can be seen in solid wood construction.

Selbst Hochspannungsmasten sind in Vollholzbauweise zu sehen.

The entrance to the Ethnod village: right for men, left for women, in between a tense skin, which is however of wood.

Der Eingang in das Ethno Dorf: rechts für Männer, links für Frauen, dazwischen eine aufgespannte Haut, die aber aus Holz ist.

Ein Serge, heiliger Stamm oder Totempfahl.

The entrance area, equipped with two consecutive doors, which act as wind and cold protection.

Der Eingangsbereich, mit zwei hintereinander liegenden Türen ausgestattet, die als Wind- und Kälteschutz fungieren.

Wood stove with ice cover, as said, metal is not good for it :)

Holzofen mit Eisverkleidung, wie gesagt, Metall taugt dazu nicht :)

Tapeten aus dünnen Eisplatten mit Verzierungen, oben ein Ausschnitt der inneren Wandisolierung aus Filz.

Yakutian wheel of fortune, hand warm coins are hung up and thawed into the surface, theft excluded.

Ein jakutisches Glücksrad, handwarme Münzen werden aufgelegt und tauen in die Oberfläche ein, Diebstahl ausgeschlossen.

The central ritual oven made of clay with three openings on a seven-sided foundation.

Der zentrale Ritualofen aus Ton mit drei Öffnungen auf einem siebenseitigen Fundament.

In the upper part, a bark cover can be seen, it catches the smoke which rituals can arise.

Im oberen Bereich ist eine Rindenabdeckung zu sehen, sie fängt den Rauch auf der bei den Ritualen entstehen kann.

The compulsory horse must not be missing.

Das obligatorische Pferd darf natürlich nicht fehlen.

Even the chimney is made of turned-in bark.

Selbst der Schornstein ist aus eingedrehter Rinde gefertigt.

Horse blanket, the type of ornaments and the colors used suggest the place of manufacture.
Inside the houses is built a lot of bark, it is able to absorb smoke and other odors.

Eine Pferdedecke, die Art der Ornamente und die verwendeten Farben lassen auf den Herstellungsort schließen.
Im Inneren der Häuser ist viel Rinde verbaut, sie ist in der Lage Rauch und sonstige Gerüche aufzunehmen.

We had three guides who could tell us everything. Now comes the Shamanic part. Solid wooden drum with reindeer covering.

Wir hatten drei Führerinnen, die uns alles erklären konnten. Nun kommt der schamanische Teil an die Reihe. Massive Holztrommel mit Rentierbespannung.

Shaman costume with attributes in animal shape. Every shaman has its own animal helpers and they are considered symbols of power.

Schamanenkostüm mit Attributen in Tiergestalt. Jeder Schamane hat seine eigenen Tierhelfer und sie werden als Symbole der Kraft betrachtet.

Different bells and mirrors. The bells serve at the pleasure of the spirits, the mirrors are designed for look-ahead, the future or the past is to be seen by the shaman.

Verschiedene Glocken und Spiegel. Die Glocken dienen zum Wohlgefallen der Geister, die Spiegel sind zur Vorrausschau bestimmt, die Zukunft oder die Vergangenheit ist darin vom Schamanen zu sehen.

After so much culture some relaxation doing very well and we go to slide.

Nach so viel Kultur tut etwas Entspannung ganz gut und wir gehen zur Rutsche.

This is not just fun for kids! Actually a bit high for children and really racy is the ride on bare ice.

Das macht nicht nur Kindern Spass! Eigentlich etwas hoch für Kinder und richtig rassant geht die Fahrt auf blankem Eis dahin.

It is already two weeks officially spring and the grass actually is already beginning to grow, though it is still covered by a 15-30 cm thick layer of ice.

Es ist ja schon seit zwei Wochen offiziell Frühling und das Gras fängt tatsächlich schon zu wachsen an, obwohl es noch von einer 15-30 cm dicken Eisschicht bedeckt ist.

And finally today's culture: In the spring temperatures a barbecue is of course a hit and before we starve it goes back to the city, the evening program is waiting.

Und zum Schluß noch die heutige Kultur: Bei den frühlingshaften Temperaturen ist ein Grill natürlich der Renner und bevor wir verhungern geht es wieder zurück in die Stadt, das Abendprogramm wartet.
