Bridges - Day 47

Protracted distance between us
Treacherous hinterlands keeping us apart
Troubled waters falling all around

But it’s always worth a try

Dangerous precipice blocks our path
A valley of poppies beckons us to apathy
And lulls us into forgetfulness

But the spell always wears off eventually

Building bridges takes stamina
Courage, patience, ingenuity
And always need repair

But the connections make it all worthwhile

Burning bridges seems easier
And requires nothing but willful intention
Leaving a bad taste in your mouth

But the disconnect may be life-saving
