Passengers - Day 35
This poem was inspired by the first picture - a passenger letting life pass-by.
Placeholders, just filling a seat for The System
Wishing they could run and play
Drugged into compliance
All in the guise of education
Employees, batteries being drained
To support a make believe economy
That’s being held up
With fake money by fake people
Passengers just going along for the ride
On their way to nowhere
Watching the world pass-by
Out of the corner of their eye
Attendees looking for the next best thing
Sitting next to comrade strangers
Hoping to make a real connection
Hyped at first but soon disappointed
Spectators longing to be moved
To tears or laughter or fear or lust
Sitting through the credits
Just to see if there’s something more
Onlookers wondering what’s going on
Hoping for a little drama
To make them feel real
Or at least give them something to talk about
Bystanders, unaware of their self made prison
Letting a slow death just happen
Thinking that’s their only choice
When the door is wide open

Hello @firststeps. Good poetry. You draw it well. We are walking towards nowhere. Passenger from nothing
Those lines got to me. So many people go around disappointed with life, thinking 'is this it?', hoping that if they just wait a little longer everything will be revealed. Heck, I know I've fallen into that trap so many times. Proactivity, and, more importantly, creativity, are the only solutions. Nice work!
Interesting approach on the priorities of people in these times, dear @firststeps. How ties are being created, creating prisons that cloister people in false lives.
