First Steps - Day 34

Inspired by a much better poem called Traveling Man Blues by @naquoya

Life is a journey,
Marked by a series of first steps.
Each one starting and ending a trail:
May be just a passing blip on the radar,
Or a strong and steady heartbeat,
Or a feral and frenzied palpitation.

Some lead to nowhere.
If only we could backspace and delete,
But nothing is in vain

Others bring us back around,
As if we never left,
But now it seems a little easier.

Some run parallel.
Each path at first perpendicular, long or short,
Before turning towards the same direction.

Others make sharp right angles,
Changing our direction,
Never to return.

Some do a 360,
Traveling in circles for awhile
As we make up our minds.

Others do an about face,
To rest in the familiar
Or run from the unknown.

Some intersect another’s journey-
Walking side by side
As if their trails were one.

Others have tiny foot steps
Walking just behind;
Shielded for awhile.

Some are broad and easy.
Many have walked those paths
With nothing new to find.

Others are steep and narrow.
Undiscovered treasures
For those who dare to climb.

Some end way too soon!
And those they left behind,
Just stop and sink awhile.

Life is a journey,
Marked by a series of first steps,
Each one starting and ending a trail.
May be our last blip on this radar
Starts a new strong and steady beat
With its own feral and frenzied palpitations.
