Tools - Day 36

My husband was a fix-it man. The first picture inspired this poem.

Tools were like weapons in your hand
Pounding, turning, chopping, piercing
Defeating lies about your worth
Fixing the immediate
Making it useful once again

Looks and duration meant nothing
Creative Jimmy-rigs
Empowered your soul
And calmed your mind
Brought order to your chaos

I never knew how much
You carried upon your shoulders
Cause I am dealing with my own demons
But 36 years meant something
We fought alone together
We fought together alone

And now it’s said and done
The most important battle you won
You gave our kids a better life
Than the hell you went through
Time to smile and rest
